Dimash loves to mix genres. No song will be the same because of it and he always manages to surprise. Dimash is now 27 and world-famous and he is well on his way to becoming a Super Star. He STILL surprises. You want to see it all, watch SINFUL PASSION. Have the subtitles on because the words help you understand why he is singing the way he is singing.

This song was not written for Dimash. It was sung by various performers. The latter was Gregory Lemarchal - a guy with a tragic fate (since childhood he suffered from cystic fibrosis, but despite this lung disease he sang perfectly), died at the age of 23. And the song seems to be about him.

I got an old Starmania live LP and I fell in love with some of the songs. Then I looked up all later performances. Turns out not only this musical is big thing for francophone world and still topical in so many ways; the music just never gets old, many of the songs (this, Le Monde est Stone, Le Blues de Businessman/J'aurais voulu etre un artiste) still get recorded again and again and I love it.

G'Day, Mike!😊 I loved your reaction to S.O.S.! You are very sincere in your reactions, and obviously are not doing them to gain views. Bravo 👏🏼 I see others have requested that you react to "Sinful Passion." Here's the link to it, from Dimash's KZbin Channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWqpnXeDeNRrgrc He was invited to sing this @ The Studio-A in Sochi, by the Studio-A original piano player, who is also from Kazakhstan. He's singing in Russian, but there are English subtitles on it. Near the middle of the song, Dimash adds an ethnic type of vocal run, with a type of "goat trill," which is sounds like a cry, as a tribute to the original singer who passed away a few years ago. An interesting sound, I might add. Dimash uses a myriad of vocal techniques in this song, as well as great breath control! Oh yes, after that lament, Dimash builds up to a type of crescendo. TRY NOT to pause it here, and you'll be able to hear him belt, do runs, and all in one 23-24 second breath. Amazing control! Much Love and Respect, Dee 🍃💗🍃

Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan, he started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has just (18th June 2020) completed his Masters specialising in Composition, and receiving his Masters degree with Honours, having achieved the maximum score of 100% and has just started his PhD. His range is over 6 octaves (7 now) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it. In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for famous professional singers in China he was invited as a wildcard and after this one song was catapulted to stardom and is now a pop superstar in China. He is now also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He is on a solo world tour tight now and in his concerts he sings for around 3 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 26 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album in China though. It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart when its safe to do so. He has concerts lined up in Dusseldorf, Prague and Minsk there will be others. Thank you for your reaction, please do more, he has more than enough videos on KZbin. Bravo Dimash 💖

Dimash has masters degrees in both classical and contemporary vocals. He was offered a position w/ Astana Opera but refused it, since his passion is fusion singing. You'll notice many switch-ups throughout his songs as he decides, note by note and line by line exactly what kind of tone he wants. He has the capability of an opera singer, but he doesn't stop there. He's very much an artist, nothing frozen in time, but transforms with each performance. This SOS was 2017; listen to the MTV Brazil live version he did this fall, or the Tokyo Jazz Festival track live-streamed from his studio early this year, and you'll see major change. Have fun, enjoy the ride, share reactions if and when you want to.... we're always eager to hear more. Speaking for myself, I thought my fan girl days were over decades ago. Heard Dimash randomly and plunged into my obsessive phase of learning everything I could in a (futile) attempt to understand how that voice is possible...and of course, it doesn't matter how or why. Dimash's voice is so sweet and pure that I'm simply addicted. Gotta' have my fix of his vocals every single day.

Mike, you had a unique Dimash first reaction, and I must have seen a thousand so far. You were intensely delighted, shocked, amazed, and gratified--and it was visceral, physical, as well as musically informed (you quickly duplicated his melody and picked out his exact notes on your keyboard). You're right. We Dears search for new Dimash reactions daily. We Know reactors will be impressed, but we're curious about Why, and what each has to say about their experience. Many educate us about vocal techniques we know nothing about. Rarely, someone notices something that no one else has, which jumps out to us from then on (note Dimash's fleeting smile during the very long pause at the end, mentioned only 2-3 times so far). Simply, we're connoisseurs of Dimash!

Dimash is not about demonstrating his entire range in every song. He is about expressing the meaning and the emotions of the song in the most appropriate way possible. If you check the meaning of the lyrics of SOS, you will understand the reason for the contrast between high and low. As he himself has said, he is a singer, not a vocal acrobat or clown. In many songs he uses only very limited range and they are so beautiful. Here is the version with Eng subs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4nXanadf811nrM&app=desktop. By the way, his highest note is D8, sung during a live performance - not even on the piano, and he can also go lower than in SOS. But personally this is not the main reason to consider him the best vocalist on this planet. It's how beautiful his voice is in every register, how perfect his technique is in every genre and style of singing and how much emotion he conveys while singing. He always moves me beyond words, transports me to another world and makes my soul fly when he sings, no matter in what register(s). If you wish to continue with Dimash, the second song he performed in the same competition is Opera 2, which is a very fun song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5-unohnf5Wfb8k And, by the way, I totally believe that many of the reactions to Dimash are honest - because, frankly, that's how really many people feel while listening to him. I know that's exactly how I felt and still feel while listening to him. So why not many others as well? If a vocalist is great, why not acknowledge it?

❤👍❤ The judges for this competition are made up of "500" audience members! Great review. Thank you. ❤🤗❤ Here are some songs where you can hear Dimash's diverse vocal ranges. "Love is Like a Dream" singing in Russian at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow (with vocal frye), "Sinful Passion" again in Russian, "Ogni Pietra Olympico" sang in Italian, originally sung for the Opening Ceremonies for the 2nd European Olympic Games in Minsk, Belarus in June of 2019. However the best viewing of this song will be at his solo Arnau Concert in his homeland of Kazakhstan 2019. There were 45,000 people there. And for something unusual..."Know Vocalize"" beginning and ending in vocal frye with the phrase 'Ascolta la voce' which means 'Listen to The Voice'. The main body of this song is entirely sang in amazing vocals only. Dimash sings in over 12 languages and has a vocal range of 6/7 octaves with whistle notes, the highest (so far) is a Dolphin 🐬 Whistle of D8. Check out Dimash on Wikipedia. His story and history are amazing. ❤ (Since Dimash sings in so many languages, I have found it helpful to pull up the English subtitles. Many of his songs have them available. Dimash is fluent in Kazakh and Russian. He is currently studying English and Mandarin. He also sings in the following languages. French, Ukrainian. Italian, Turkish, Serbian, Kyrgyz, German and Spanish.)

This song is from Starmania created in my neck of the woods. Starmania is a Canadian-French cyberpunk rock opera written in 1976 with music by Michel Berger and book and lyrics by Luc Plamondon. It debuted in 1978 with a studio recording of the songs, before premiering on stage in 1979. Several of its songs have passed into mainstream Francophone pop culture; it is now considered one of the most famous rock operas in French history.

Excellent reaction........When you calculate, based on the information available, DIMASH has been in training for this career since he was about 5 years of age. And if he has practiced, on average, 3 hours per day, and 300 hundred days per year, for about 21 years, that total would equate to about 18,900 hours of training, plus, you need the intelligence and talent of DIMASH...........Yes, he is from another PLANET.....My guess, Jupiter.

Remember that the shoe must go on was learned phoneticly in a week for the Singer performance 3rd one IIRC. That lets me forgive the English being a bit off. Just did not seem to connect the emotion to it as speakers of the languages he knows indicate. His English has improved at least in singing- have not heard him speak English -- but in a few interviews it seemed he understood things before the translator got to them.

Yes, with Dimash it is the entire package that makes him extraordinary. Not just the octaves, but the projection, presence, technique, humility, and emotions. They bring me back to the roots of my soul. It might be interesting for you too see the rendition he did of this two years later and how much he has improve since this first performance.

You are right when you say that Dimash is not of this Earth. He is something entirely unique and beautiful. If you'd like to see the limits of his range, he slides up to a full-bodied D8 in his live performance of Unforgettable Day (at Gakku). That particular note is higher than what's on a standard piano. Insane stuff. Other performances you might enjoy include Sinful Passion (where he accomplishes a 25-second-long continuous riff, without breathing), Love Is Like a Dream, The Love of Tired Swans, Adagio, Opera 2...Literally anything you see of this guy's is going to simply flatten you. If you thought S.O.S. was amazing, and it is, just wait, brother.

Well, not 6 octaves in one song. He reminds us that, to him, his range is a tool that he uses. Some of his most beautiful music does not hit extremes at all, though there is no getting away from his immeasurable skill.

Welcome to the world of Dimash. Everybody needs to watch Dimash...you will never see another musician like him....Most people fall in love with him the first time they hear him... all ages (I am 69 years old) both genders, all genres. and Dimash shows such emotion in his voice and stage presence you don't really need to know the language. Ogni Pietra is a great one to see his range....but Dimash says the octave range is not important...it is just a tool to make people happy!!! He is a great, humble human being. He has studied music since age 5...has one degree and is still working on another music degree. SOS is not an original song, but continues to be his most famous. Please react to more of his songs

I really like your reaction while you're listening, and I hope you'll find out that Dimash's singing is not about his vocal range but about conveying and sharing emotions and stories with his audience. In that respect he is a master, THIS is his artistery, not vocal acrobatics for its own sake. Dimash himself considers his vocal abilities (and range) only as a tool to do what a song or a message requires. Some Dears are so proud of Dimash and in some descriptions his range seems overemphasized. Dimash is about storytelling with a most versatile, beautiful and touching voice, and I hope you will join him and us and simply enjoy the music of this incredible youn man! ❤️

You are correct. So many reactors do Dimash for subscriptions. The fans are aware of it. However, more and more people become aware of Dimash by watching those reactors and as fans we would like to see him gain the international recognition we feel he deserves. This song is the tip of the iceberg and was in 2017. He has only improved. He does have an official You Tube channel which contains incredible live performances. I hope you will consider doing more reactions of course but if not, I hope you will continue to listen to and learn about Dimash on your own. As far as a link where you can see some of the range, here is a link to him doing the Diva Dance from the movie Fifth Element at a live concert. It is short. However, Dimash sings some songs in his low range and goes drastically higher such as, Sinful Passion which is also stunning. For now, here is the Diva Dance. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWbdfqimirSah9E

While Dimash does in fact have a 6+ octave vocal range, the most octaves he usually spans in a single song is about 4. “Diva Dance”, “Your Love”, “Ogni Pietra”, and some versions of “Know” are good examples. He values storytelling over pyrotechnics so he generally only uses what is necessary for that particular song. His performance with the most octaves spanned is probably the Gakku version of “Unforgettable Day” which spans 5+ easily.

Hello. Welcome to the world of Dimash, the greatest singer on the planet. Great comments, which I share. You will see that it is not the range, but how he uses it., with unmatched expressiveness. I recommend you Sinful Passion, great, without words; Your love, an intensity show, an interpretation masterclass; Love is like a dream, a beautiful and emotional song (until tears). Ti amo cosi, a beautiful trio, and Ulisse, a beautiful duo, both operatic. Samaltau (Tokyo Jazz) very, very emotional folk song. And I highly recommend you Olimpico (Ogni Pietra), my favorite, also operatic and tremendously powerful; and I recommend the fancam version, where his dramatic performance and bocal technique are closely seen (the fancam does not have optimal sound but there is a version of it that mixes the image with the right sound). There are many more, but these are only to start. I recommend you to see a translation of the lyrics in each one so you can appreciate how accurate each interpretation is. Regards from Argentine, Máximo
