He sang in a duet with the great Placido Domingo and last week released a new video called When I've got you. And it's wonderful! It's totally different from what we're use to see. The poor rock guys who you remarked about, are actually competitors of Dimash. The Singer is a competition show for establish singers in China. He was invited as a "dark horse" competitor and you can tell by their faces that they were stunned. The poor girl you see later on feebly clapping after his performance had to go on after Dimash. She was already nervous and then how do you follow that? One cannot help but feel for her. However, all of them became good friends during the competition, and remain so to this day. This is an old clip. He is a better more mature singer now.

Dimash is from Kazakhstan. Already a higly trained singer stepping out into the world after winning many prestigeous singing and instrumental competitions from the age of 5yrs. The competition organisors got to hear of him and invited him to participate in their Chinese si ging competition for well established proffessional Chinese singers. They invited Dimash as a foreign or, at that time the foreigners could never win. So Dimash came 2nd. But the judges of the competition were so amazed at his talent they shared him with the world. As said in his own bit of the world like Kazakhstan, Belarus, Russia etc he was at the top of the pile, and was already open to going beyond his own known areas. So when the invitation to join their competition Dimssh only 21 at the time, took advantage, and after his very 1xt performance, the judges let the world discover this very talented and modest young man. He now holds his own concerts across the world , he also was asked to become the world ambassador for peace and sooo much more.

Dimash is from the central asian country of Kazakhstan, wedged between Russia, China, and the islamic world, influenced by a multitude of different cultures, hence Dimash's stylistic versatiliy. His parents are both singers, his mother in opera, his father in pop (and also a producer), so he was exposed to music from earliest childhood. He doesn't care of scholarly defined styles, but uses all of them freely to express the most emotion possible in a song. This song shows only a fraction of Dimash's vocal abilities (and you couldn'd squeeze more in it). It may be interesting for you as a vocal coach to see more of Dimash ans what he is able to do with his voice, so here is a list of a few particularly remarkable songs with some info to trigger your curiosity. • In Sinful Passion, which is regarded by many as his best performance so far, you will see at least 10 changes of vocal style including a central asian technique and a sequence of 23 seconds on one breath which again includes multiple vocal timbres. • In Opera 2 he uses his great stage presence in addition to his voice to drive the audience nuts. • In Know he shows his talent as an improviser, creating a mix of jazzy scat, central asian ornaments, and some powerful pop-rock elements, particularly in the vocalise versions (there are also versions with lyrics). A good example for the latter is the performance at the New Wave event 2019, an excellent example for the vocalise version (aka Ascolta la Voce) is at the Arnau Tour concert in Kiew in 2020. • In Diva Dance (the song of the blue alien in the movie The Fifth Element, intentionally written to be unsingable) at the Bastau concert, he shows off with incredible vocal acrobatics. • In Unforgettable Day (his own composition) at the Gakku music festival, he reached his highest note, which is outside of the range of a piano, powerful, sustained, controlled and with vibrato. • Love Is Like A Dream shows in an excellent way that he does not switch between styles, timbres and registers, but that he is able to seamlessly slide in and out and move between them. You see that there is a lot to discover for anyone interested in exploring the limits of the human voice. This song is in French not Mandarin 😁 Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan, he started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has just (18th June 2020) completed his Masters specialising in Composition, and receiving his Masters degree with Honours, having achieved the maximum score of 100% and has just started his PhD. His range is over 6 octaves (7 now) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it. In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for professional singers in China he was invited as a wildcard and after this one song was catapulted to stardom and is now a pop superstar in China. He is now also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He is on a solo world tour tight now and in his concerts he sings for around 3 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 26 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album in China though. It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart when its safe to do so. He has concerts lined up in Dusseldorf, Prague and Minsk there will be others. Thanks for the reaction/analysis video to Dimash's SOS song. He is regarded by many in the industry and music lovers as the best vocalist in the world. Not only is his vocal range amazing (6 octaves and perhaps more), his musicality and stage presence are also of masterclass level. Moreover, his ability to interpret music and connect the audience to his song/soul is another amazing thing about this artist. So as a musician, he is perhaps a once in a generation type talent. But what wins me over is his humility as a person (despite his megastar status in China and Russia), his love for his family, country and people in general, and his wisdom despite his age. I hope that you will continue reacting to Dimash as he has many phenomenal performance to show. The song “SOS” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the five most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash performed here at the 2017 "I AM A SINGER" competition. It is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers where the audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. The audience is the same throughout the entire show, 500 with musical backgrounds and they judge the show by points each week. The competition consisted of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest given that he was completely unknown to the audience. He had been invited as a wildcard and was the first foreigner and youngest person to ever compete in the show. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th, for his rendition of “Adagio”, a song made famous by Lara Fabian. Dimash won the first two episodes! Dimash's whistle note is D8 (yes, yes, the key that is no longer on the piano keyboard), which he uses in several other songs. In SOS it is a soprano, head voice, still with the possibility of coloratura, which you will probably find out when reacting to his other great songs: earlier, for example "Late Automn" (from the same TV competition The Singer 2017) or later, for example "Ogni Pietra / Olimpico". @@randywissler9923 ​ Yes, but none of these tones occur in SOS, where the highest note sung by Dimash is F6 (on which Dimash freely does coloratura, as can be seen in "Diva Dance"), and the technical determinant of the whistle is the inability (already) to make coloratures (at most a vibrata on this tone), it looks different in different singers and for some the already high C (c³) - C6 - may be a whistle (moreover, from this tone - 1046.5 Hz - in the theory of vocalism the whistle register begins). The tone of Dimash's whistle, E7, appears in the song "Astana" (older versions), F7 in "Drunken Concubine + Diva Dance" and "Diva Dance" in a concert in Kiev, G7 in earlier performances of "Unforgettable Day". The combination of C8, because probably 8 - not 7 as you wrote, which is an octave lower - you mean, and D8 is in "Unforgettable Day" Gakku and these are the actual Dimash's whistles. Regards

He’s now 26 and has completed his Masters Degree in Composition (and jazz??). Starting his Ph.D. He’s EXTREMELY versatile (pop, opera, jazz, contemporary, rap, ethnic-folk, traditional/classical) and loves to combine genres in the same song. His performances are consistently top quality. He’s a great example for your students (perfect pitch; voice placement; dynamics; how to inject emotion; how to do fast trills and runs; breath control; posture; microphone techniques; connecting emotionally with the audience; stage presence; etc.) More Dimash, please? His two mother tongues are Kazak and Russian as Kazakhstan is on the same land mass as Russia, so most Kazaks are multilingual. Kazakhstan won their independence from Russia in 1991. His mother (Sveta) is a soprano opera singer and his father (Kanat) is a popular pop singer. Both parents sang for many years. His mother with Kazakhstan Opera house and both parents are both very well known on the country's people from their performances on tv and across the nation. Dimash completed his masters in music composition and has his undergraduate in studying Classical and Pop singing. He has now begun his studies of his Doctorate. Kanat is now his sons manager. Ethnically, they are Eurasian. The performance you reacted to was his introduction to the world. China fell in love with him and the next morning he had to get bodyguards the people were rushing him so hard. I hope you react to many more of his videos.

Dimash is a Kazak (from the Republic of Kazakhstan). They are a Eurasian people. His mother Sveta, is a beautiful Kazak opera singer....soprano. His father Kanat, is a pop singer leaning toward a baritone/tenor voice range and is a producer and Dimash' manager. Dimash vocally trained from age five until age 25. Dimash is very loving toward his fans whom he calls his "Dears". His current range is 6 octaves and a few tones. He has perfect pitch, and plays several instruments. He is a philanthropist, giving to many in need.

He is classically trained and was offered a career in Opera, but turned it down because he wanted to bring a different type of music to his audience.
