Great tips. Another excellent use of the marquee tool is to drop a marquee selection on a transient, use the shortcut to move the playhead to the marquee selection and paste a region to any channel you wish. Ultra handy for manual drum replacement or layering things like tambourines on top of snare hits.

Great content! You can also just click an audio region with the Marquee tool without selecting any range (so it is a tiny vertical line). Now you can use the left and right arrows + backspace (delete) to locate and split consecutively at transients super fast!

I have seen a lot of edm producers make drops and duplicate kicks and snares very quickly but never explain how or what function does that and you just broke it down 🎉

I have been using Logic since 2007 and I didn't even know the marquee tool existed, lol. Watching your videos I've realized I've been doing things the very tedious way for like 15 years.

OMG - I've been looking for forever how to do those automation edits like you did them...quickly adjusting the volume of a section without having to manually add 2 points on either side. Awesome. (Unfortunately, it doesn't work with the marquee tool click zones. You actually have to use the marquee tool itself. But that's ok.)

Thank you SO MUCH for this. I never use the marquee tool. I now REALLY see what I am missing. I think you have very quickly and simply saved me a lot of time and boring energy in the future. I just have to get those shortcuts in my head, and then transfer them to muscle memory. Hopefully won't be long.

Awesome! In the Transient Editing section you show how to extend a selection either right or left to the next transient using the arrow keys. But say I'm just trying to fine tune a selection around a noise I want to get rid of. Is there a way to nudge the right and left edge of a selection in increments other than to the next transient? Did a bunch of Googling, it all points to here! Thanks!

Great, as always! You may have covered this in another video but I can't seem to find it anywhere - is there a way to set the default left-click/right-click edit tools in Logic? They always come up with pointer on the left, pencil on the right. I am always changing the pencil to something else, usually the marquee tool, in the usual manual way.

There should be a drop down menu that will change the default click tools near the top center of the project window, under the LCD screen

Does or can the marquee tool add quick fades to each edit (so you don't hear a pop)? With editing vocals that could save a lot of adding fades.

There is a select and remove silence feature when right clicking on any track that will instantaneously remove all silence from the whole track. I guess using the marquee tool for a single section or specific sections would be beneficial but not using it across the entire track, that would take longer using the marquee.

Anyways to change clip gain with the marquee tool? I know you can select and change within the Inspector, but wonder if their is a more intuitive way just like the automation window.

Is there a way to tab to transients to make cuts or edits
@antonsaviozzi
@antonsaviozzi 2 жыл бұрын
In PT you can tab to transient and then move the selection to an adjacent track, so that you can trim (or cut) that other track according to the transient position from the previous track. I can't seem to be able to do that in Logic, is it possible?

Thanks for the question! It's actually very interesting one, so I made a new video about it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoa7dZKpoLipoq8 I answer your specific question toward the end of the video, though. I had to explain the two main methods of transient editing in Logic first. Thanks!

@@MusicTechHelpGuy I’ve just found another way. Ctrl-fn-left arrow moves the playlist to the marquee position. I can then select the track I want and choose cut by playhead. 😌

Is there a way to create fades with the marquee tool?
@MusicTechHelpGuy
@MusicTechHelpGuy Жыл бұрын
I wish. Kind of hope that the Logic developers someday add the option to drag over with the Marquee tool, and press a key command to create a fade, like Pro Tools does. However, you have two other options that are part of the pointer tool. Hold Shift-Control and drag with the pointer tool to create a fade. Or turn on Fade "click zones" to embed the fade tool into the regions. I made a recent video on this topic if you want to check it out.
