In this video, I demonstrate a chord exercise I've used previously in my music theory courses to help students wrap their heads around choosing the best sounding chords for a melody. Enjoy! This has helped give some insight that I feel that i was lacking and also is along the same lines as to what I emailed about concerning chords and song writing.

Sometimes, you find a piece that, once in place, illuminates the rest of the jigsaw puzzle, by giving greater context the pieces already in place, and those to come, thereby accelerating progress towards a satisfying resolution. This was one such piece in my attempt to gather enough music theory to allow me to move from idea to instantiation. I'm sure I'm not alone in appreciating your non-patronising, yet encouraging screen persona. So, thank you very much.

p.s. I've found utilising Scaler 2 with the new Chord capabilities in Logic invaluable.

It would have been a godsend to have a DAW when I was studying music theory in college... in 1976,1977. Technology, what a blast! Great video, Josh! Cheers!

Would like to hear your opinion on the decreasing value and over-saturation of music in general. For example: over 50k songs are uploaded to Spotify per day. Big Z just made a video on this topic.
