Just for a rough visualization of how "Rain" and "Thunder" versions work in-game for better understanding of this game's soundtrack: Generally, the "Rain" version is heard 90% of the time, as it plays while moving characters around in a chess-like fashion. When a character attacks or is attacked by an enemy, it will zoom in to show a brief animation of hits landing or missing―it's during these brief animations (generally < 10 seconds long) where the "Thunder" version starts playing, the game seamlessly swapping between the two versions when needed. Helps add variety to the music, because even though the songs are bangers, some battles can last a VERY long time, so this helps both make battles more engaging and also helps the music feel less repetitive.

Ngl, I lost my mind over the harmony thing in "Awakening". I love that kind of stuff. Checked for the strange little skip in "Roar of Dominion (Thunder)" in the in-game music library. It doesn't seem to be there, so it was probably an error with the KZbin video.

Yeah the people who made music for Fire Emblem Three Houses are extremely talented with music, and the unique ways they keep using the main theme. Even in a theme call “Thre Shackled Wolves” (you haven’t reacted to it yet), there’s a part where the a part of the main theme was played in reverse, and I didn’t even notice until like a year after when someone pointed it out

umm ok? I mean there are like so many games that use leitmotifs. And aside 2 or 3 songs, in the timeskip they got lazy and all 4 routes have the same songs. Chasing daybrayk is the generic time skip song that plays in all 4 routes. @@GoldenLeafsMovies

Golden Deer and Crescent Moon is just so good. 😌 Best character theme for the best house leader, as it should be. (It, as well as The Leader's Path and The King of Lions are the respective character themes for the three house leaders, so the three main Lords of the game.)

It's definitely mine. My first playthrough I went Crimson Flower, so I first heard this track whilst on the invading side. Preparing the battle, having chosen to side with Edelgard, seeing so many familiar faces I was planning to take on, combined with this theme playing gave me probably the greatest thrill I've ever experienced in gaming.

One thing that Most Fire Emblem games have in common is the way they sprinkle in the main theme into most of their tracks. In fact you can often sing the words Fire Emblem into most of their big tracks. The callbacks to the main themes of each game is one of the things that really charms me about the music direction of Fire Emblem games. It kinda creates an atmosphere of familiarity within the series that is comforting and amplifies the meaning of various moments within the game for the player.

I don't know if you chat said it, and I know this video is a year old; but that part where you said the main theme is scattered throughout chasing daybreak may be in reference to the fact that during that part of the story your characters are all scattered and you're trying to bring them back together.

I just beat Chained Echoes and I would love to see Dans take on that soundtrack. For me the soundtrack is almost on par with soundtracks from Nobuo Uematsu. I would love to see a professional take on this. For anyone into old school JRPGs, that hasn't played chained echoes yet, I can only recommend you to try it. The story is a bit slow in the beginning and it has a few moments where the actions of the characters bewildered me, but in the end it's an awesome story, that's among the best I've ever experienced in any JRPG. It's amazing, that this game was build by a single dev.

Maybe it's all just getting in my head, but I think there is in fact special significance to the Roar of Dominion having a bit of the main theme reversed in it. The game employs Tarot motifs for its characters, and in particular one of them, the active party in the scene where this song plays, is associated with the World Arcana, mostly in the Reversed position, via the Crest of Flames. Having a bit of the Fire Emblem / Crest of Flames motif reversed in this song could thus be a subtle reference tying into that.

I was looking at the future ost reactions, and I saw that there was Ultrakill and Ultrakill 2. Ultrakill is just one game, even though it says like Act 1 and Act 2. When you react to the Ultrakill ost, I just wanted to let you know that you should react to both the Act 1 and Act 2 soundtracks. Ultrakill goes by in levels, like 2-4 or 5-2, and Act 1 and the prelude are 0-3 and Act 2 is 4-6.

broken routine hits hard with context, it’s a somber take on the music that plays during downtime between chapters. Spoiler: your player character’s father has just been assassinated during what should’ve been a normal mission, and just the day after you’re already trying to go about business as usual as a teacher at this war academy. needless to say you’re not doing so hot.
