Clapton had to be persuaded to make the unplugged album, not believing it would sell. Last time I looked it had sold over 30 million. Watch it all on KZbin. Wonderful.

Great Guitar for sure! I agree with Quinton about signature models but this guitar is a great combo of desirable features and a real solid guitar. I live about 5 miles from the Martin factory and am there often to try out guitars in the playing room. This is one of my favorites to grab off the wall. I own an OM-28. I like the added fret length. Great playing Quinton!

I have just bought its "cousin", the 2018 000-28 Standard. The most playable guitar I have ever owned. I have a Martin 000-OM also but although it is a bit louder, I am finding I prefer the short scale playability (if that's a word) of this guitar. I've added a Fishman Infinty pickup so this will be my performance guitar. Lots of colorful tone throughout highs and lows.

Great sounding guitar. I wonder how it sounds compared to the regular Martin 000-28. Im not really a fan of signature models with artist name inlays, but its still a cool guitar. Nice video guys!

A friend has a standard 000-28, it sounds awesome, but there is a certain something about the feel and sound of the EC. Worth the extra cash? Individual's decision, as are all things guitar.
@fernandofernandezescalante25544 жыл бұрын
A question hovering over my brain ever since I purchased second hand my 2015 EC and was won by its sound but a little overwhelmed by the neck shape (used as I was to my Gibson’s) so I got myself a brand new 000-28 Reimagined with the sleek neck and sound improvements (I imagined) and what a disappointment! I sold back the Reimagined in a matter of two months. The Clapton has a powerful tone to it, believe me. And I could very well do without Eric’s signature on the 20th fret

I have a 000-28 in sunburst and it's a great guitar - has a modified low oval neck vice a v-neck, which my hands prefer.

unplugged 92 Down at the bottom of the hood there might be, aside of the solid ‘genuine mahogany’ of the EC neck, a “personal touch” when being put together at Nazareth (as cunningly observed in the video comparing both guitars that Paul and Quinton put out just a few hours ago), because I once had both models and got rid of the 000-28 (a 2018 Reimagined model, BTW) keeping the 2015 EC which sounded fuller and projected a lot more, using same exact strings, 92/8. However I must admit there’s a very small difference favorable to the Standard 000-28 in the hands of Quinton in the new video (probably because of the strings?) making it sound a wee bit clearer and a tad louder... I don’t know 🤭

It is an expensive guitar, but it's worth every penny. The 000-28EC sounds good from day one, but it seems to open up after 3 years.

Hey Scotty, Maybe you can help me out. I'm no guitar guy. I mean I play a few chords. I'm a nurse and do some home health care. Take my little $200 Yamaha with me occasionally to play for a client. Well I got gifted a 00028 from clients daughter. I'm not worthy! Tried to say no. So it showed up with loose strings. I tuned it gently. Not knowing if there was a set order to put tension on a brand new guitar. In light I did notice you can see where the 2 pieces of top join together. Not a marked color difference but just wondered if that's normal? Martin ain't calling back. I know these are dumb questions but can I leave tuned with tension in case? Do use a humidifier in your cases? I'm not used to fine things. Lol A little nervous to touch it. It seems tight. That might be the right word. My little Yamaha has as much resonance to me. But then again, I'm no real musician. This little doll is gonna make me up my game though. Appreciate any advise. Thanks
@ScottyGMusic3 жыл бұрын
@@gregorywebster6640 I actually don't know this for sure, but I don't think Martin tops are necessarily bookmatched, so what you are seeing would be normal. Mine has a little color variation. If it shipped with loose strings, you should be OK to tune it to 1/2 step down, let it settle for a day or two, then tune it to A-440. The literature for my guitar recommended only using Light-gauge strings. I store mine tuned to A-440, in a case with a humidifier when not in use.

I had one for about 4years. I didn't really get on with it and sold it. I wanted a dreadnought. Now I'm thinking getting rid was a mistake. Need to try one again. My theory for now is that a dreadnought is great to play and has all the frequencies you need. But the 000-28 is a little more focused sounding making it a dream to record with but sounds thin when comparing with a dreadnought.

I totally agree. I always want a smaller bodied guitar for just fingerpicking and lounging in the lazy boy, but whenever I pick one up I miss the bass of the dreadnoughts.

So now that the Standard 000-28 has scalloped bracing, is the modified V neck the only difference besides cosmetics?
@peterabbey15394 жыл бұрын
Other than the style appointments and the V neck, there is also the neck taper. While the fretboard width at the nut is the same on both models, the 000-28EC has the standard taper, whereas the 000-28 has the performing artist taper. On the 000-28, the string spacing at the bridge is narrower by 3/32".

Is Quinton wearing his pick? Always thought he used a thumbpick, but now I see it's a full size pick you can wear. I wonder if that would help me. I was never taught how to hold a pick correctly.
@quintonking99604 жыл бұрын
Obmot58 P - Thanks for jumping in and agree with all you've written! The one thing I'd add regarding the relatively fixed attack angle is that this can be a little awkward for flatpickers who are used to attacking with pick angled forward or backward, i.e. it feels like your angle is locked in plane with the strings (if that makes sense). In any case, love the Hercos!
@JesseDylanMusic4 жыл бұрын
@@quintonking9960 Thanks guys, that's interesting! I hold my pick "backwards", which, I have no idea how I managed to develop that habit, so the pick hits as if I were left-handed, if that makes any sense. I remember 20 years ago, learning to play and forcing myself to hold the pick on a plane with the strings because I thought that was correct. I'm not sure how it drifted to tilting up. Like Quinton said, if anything, it should be tilted down. Maybe I should give up and buy a pick with a left-handed bevel. Or maybe something like this would help me.
