I've been watching these, and when Mike plays rhythm, it doesn't sound like blues to me. It seems very straight -- boom boom boom boom, rather than a shuffle. It's almost like what you'd hear backing up a singer in a jazz or Dixieland band back in the 20s. I guess that is a way to do it because he is clearly a very good a knowledgeable guitar player. It is in the basic blues 12 bar form. Just so straight.
