This instrument sounds very good. The sound is very balanced and the strings are individually articulate. As always, Quinton's playing brings out the best of the instrument.

I have one of these in Sapele - it's gorgeous and plays incredible. This type of wood sure feels like it can hold up to heavy use and travel. Has a bit of a darker tone, but that's exactly what I was going for. It's a joy to hold, play, and look at. Price made it super attainable too.

Quinton, yes the Martin name but more importantly, the MARTIN SOUND! I'll stick with my 000-18 and Music Villa Custom D-28 12-fret. Doesn't matter how much I play on a day, that MV CS D-28 VTS 12-fret from my departed wife is something I like to end the day with. Thanks for such great guitars, Paul and King Quinton.

Perfect title for this video, it truly is as close as you're gonna get to a D18 or D28 for that matter. I just bought the Sitka and I'm in love. Tony Rice got me to drop the electric and get back to my roots playing Bluegrass, and I'm totally digging the flat-pickin. I played the Blues hard for 30 years, 10 of those years playing 8 hours a day and thankfully, SRV kept my right hand solid enough to make the leap into Tony and Doc's stuff. Buy a D10E, you won't be disappointed!

I own both the D10e and D-18 and love them both. I mostly use the D-18 for songwriting and the studio, while the D10e is mostly used for live performance and picking on my front porch.

I think some of these lower priced Martin dreadnoughts are fantastic guitars. I looked at this but then opted for the D-X2E (sitka top, HPL back and sides) in April after seeing a number of videos that were very positive on the guitar (including a video from Music Villa). It's super comfortable to play, has a terrific sound that I've had other guitarists comment on, and I really like how it sounds when plugged in to my amp. It's definitely meeting my needs. 🎸

Outstanding value! These are in the same market as the Taylor 100 and 200 series or Gibson G series and honestly, C.F. Martin is the one knocking out of the park in this price range today with all-solid wood models like the D10... I'm a fan of the Taylor 200 series as well, but with Martin you're getting a bit lower price point and all solid wood vs the layered on the back and sides of Taylor's offerings in this price range.... I was turned off by the product from Martin's factory in Mexico for years, until earlier this year I purchased a 000-JR and that guitar out of my six all-solid wood, mid to high-end acoustics has become my #1 player. It's my couch guitar and it sounds and feels so great... You can hear that Martin clang coming through. The use of Richlite for the fretboards also a smart move for cost savings and general environmental conservation. All around a real winner here.

Yup, all solid wood. Taylor has done an outstanding job with layered wood (back, sides, all the same wood) and we had the rare occasion to visit their Tecate factory (sorry, Music Villa, but this guy has done an outstanding job with a vid of the Taylor Tecate factory - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIbQo5ljmbJ-eaM), but...yikes Taylor.

I played both today. First, the D-10e, one strum and it sounded like a Martin. Woody, midrange-bassy, I loved it, totally scratched the itch. Then I played the D-18. Wow. A cannon, so light and such an amazing sound. I will try to get the D-18 but will settle for the D-10e most likely. It is a lot easier to take the D-10e out than a 3K guitar anyway.

It sounds just like my old Road Series DM, as well it should. I was recently shopping for my heirloom Martin (at long last), and I had the opportunity to try my DM next to a brand new D-18. There was *not* a $2000 difference in tone. I'd expect to hear the same variance between two different D-18s for how close they sounded. The Road Series has always been Martin's bang per buck winner. For those not picky about the name on the headstock, then something like an Alverez AD60 is in the same ballpark. It's well worth considering.
@IRequireMedication

Sorry, but if you don't think the D18 justifies the $2000 difference in price, you don't deserve a D18. They are not in the same ballpark.

@@drjay927 it's the attention to the details that changes in this case (if we don't consider the tones/sounds differences), smooth frets' edges and neck's edges and shape, better low action, etc.. But of course we are talking in general terms here.. you can always find a great "cheaper guitar" of course! And still after all it's just my own personal opinion! Every player is different, sound and tones' preferences are different, and that's the beauty of it!

Superior bracing in the standard series. Also, people have to realize that just because two guitars are made of the same sitka or mahogany (which in this case is the different sounding and cheaper sapale), its no where close to the same quality. They separate out their wood and the better pieces go into making higher end guitars.

Sound is just fine, but Martin really needs to ditch that Richlite shit - I hate the feel and look of those fretboards and bridges. When Taylor is literally out there putting ebony on ALL their instruments, including the Baby T, there is really no excuse. Martin would sell a lot more of their lower priced instruments if they simply used better quality materials that actually resonate and aren't manmade compressed paper.

I think this Made in Mexico guitar costs too much!!! A guitar made with materials that if they didn't have the Martin brand would cost around 300 euros and would be well paid! I think Sigma makes a similar product and at better prices so I would suggest Martin since their prices are always stratospheric instead of having the guitars made in Mexico if they have them built in Japan at least then the price would be justified and the guitar would have certainly more value considering that Japanese violin making is exceptional in my opinion!!! Spending more than 1,000 euros on a guitar that costs just over 900 dollars bought in America is an outrage; I want to remind the gentlemen of Martin that among traders who take advantage of it by playing up the price and Customs Duties, Martin in Italy for many of us is just a dream and I think that a guitar however beautiful and exceptional it is to pay 8000 euros as for a D42 or this D10 And more than 1,190 euros is really offensive to working people like all gentlemen from Martin.

Hi Giano - I confess, living here in the US, I don't consider the additional costs and obstacles for guitar players in other regions of the world, but given your comment, it's clear that there are significant accessibility issues in this world of acoustic instruments. I think a general theme of this channel is that while it's nice to own/play a fancy, name brand instrument, what is perhaps more important is that the instrument (whatever the price, whoever the maker), delivers the sound and performance the player is seeking. I've played name brand guitars that cost $10,000+ that I didn't find appealing, and I've played much lower cost guitars that I truly loved. May we all find that guitar that fits our style, our ear, and our pocketbook!!
