Had an old pal come down from East Tennessee and present me with a string change and tweak the D-18 Martin bough brand new by him in mid seventies(T-bar) and after a whole day of addressing issues, he drove over to pick up his pride and joy . He almost teared up when he played it . Thought i messed up but he said it never sounded so perfect !!!!

Keep the flame bright and high guys. In this age of synthetic layered music you folks are like a breath of fresh montana air. Love from India

great to hear you playing together! :D Fun for my ears, and a rare treat to hear how the guitar sounds in a "group setting", trading licks and setting down a good rhythm! Thanks!

That is a cannon. In my ear a bit more mellow and midranged than a 28. Lovely mahogany on the back. Probably my favorite Martin D.

Bought mine 2 years ago with an aged Adirondack top and sinker mahogany back, in 1935 sunburst. It is the 1937 version with forward-shifted Adi braces. The sunburst gets dusty quickly but is beautiful. I love this guitar, it is my babe. The best I ever had. It has incredible bass for a mahogany guitar, more than my D-42 custom (Adi/Guatemalan).

Good to see this catching on. Tone Shop in Dallas has been doing this to great success.

In 2007 i bought a Martin D18 vintage and it is my favourite acoustic Guitar the first time i saw it at the store and played a G chord i was sold and I’ve had it ever since , every time i play it i hear all the songs i grew up with . It truely is a desert island guitar.

I was passing through Bozeman two Sundays ago but it was early. I walked down past the store. Sorry my timing didn’t allow me to stop in. I live in Arizona and travel in the west. Definitely need a truss rod in my guitars since the various weather, temps, elevations, all make mine go crazy. Love the sound of these two instruments together. Thank you

I've always loved the tone a D18 over a D28!!!🎉🎉🎉

I have had d18 and d28. The 28 rarely see the light of day. The d18 is played every day of the week.

I have both, and LOVE both! For every job, choose the correct tool. I love the D-18 for lead picking with a group, or band, and the D-28 for when it is just me playing and singing. I can't imagine not having both. The D-18 took less time to "play-in", because mahogany is softer (and more "open-pore") than rosewood. It is also quite a bit lighter in weight than the D-28; being it is rosewood, instead of mahogany. Although the D-28 took quite a bit more time to "play-in" (the rosewood is denser and heavier than mahogany), it was well worth the time spent. The rosewood not only "opens-up" with age and playing, it also develops over-tones that give it an almost natural "chorus" effect. This sounds beautiful when played by itself and accompanied by vocals. Which would I choose if I could only have one of them? I am extremely grateful that I don't have this issue! I have guitars from other brands as well. I love them all, but I prefer the Martins. I thank God that I am so blessed!

My experience is that (older) Martins without truss rods actually are more stable and stay truer than those that do! Something to think about . . . .
