You get to meet Tim's dad in part 2 that you skipped. He's not a tall man. But Tim is adopted, so related by heart not by blood. I love Dena. She's a teacher (retired a couple years ago) like many members of my family including my mom, so there's a kinship there. (During one of his, "I'm giving up music" phases Tim worked as a substitute math teacher and was considering teaching as a career when the siren song of music called him back. Thank goodness for Joe Bilotta!) She often drops by the chat during Home Free premieres and always calls Tim "Timothy", never just Tim.

So, the way they pronounce "kolache" as singular is the plural form in Czech (where it comes from), so technically one should be "kolach" [koal-aach] and it's supposed to be flat with sweet topping (usually poppyseed, curd cheese or plum jam), it's not supposed to be filled, but topped

After seeing Tim's mother, father, and sister in various "Eats" videos and being how short they all are compared to Tim, it was obvious to me that he was adopted. The only thing there that matters to me is that I'm happy he ended up with such a lovely and loving family. Darrell is an old friend of Tim's and has known Jenika even longer. He's the one who introduced Tim to his future bride. This video is part 3 of Texas Eats with Tim Foust. In the first 2, as well as Minnesota Eats with Tim Foust and Nashville Eats with Tim Foust, and Oddities and Eats the guys and various friends hit several restaurants in those areas. Tim, being the big foodie that he is, is sort of the central person in the videos. Although it's not listed under the "Eats" banner Home Free - Home Away From Home - Episode 5 is actually the first Eats video. Austin is the one who named it at the beginning of the video as he and Chance headed into Pips Original Doughnuts in Portland Oregan

This type of biscuits and gravy is common in the South. My Aunt in North Carolina use to make it every morning with all of the other breakfast foods. Those round biscuits and brown gravy are taboo, the Southern style is to knead the dough using self-rising flour only until the ingredients are mixed by hand like she was doing there, not by using a rolling pin or a doe mixer. (That will make the biscuits rock hard.) The gravy always starts with a first base (sausage, bacon, chicken, turkey, lard.) "real butter" and the self-rising flour. Whatever base you have in the pan, add a 3/4 stick of butter, and a heaping tablespoon of flour on high heat stirring it in quickly with a whisk, and another, and another, and another. The base will be finished when it's the consistency of yogurt, has the color of peanut butter, and the smell of popcorn. (Hillbilly Culinary) Then just add the milk and season with salt and pepper. (What Tim's mom is doing.) while slowly stirring, you may use up to 31/2 cups of milk turning down the heat while stirring. Thanks, y'all loved this reaction.
