Hi, Ninja!! So, yeah, it was this HF song that trended on TikTok a couple years ago. Probably their most well-known song along with Man of Constant Sorrow. It went crazy viral!!! So much fun. Love you guys reacting together! P.S. I personally like the pausing and commenting, and I think at least most of the Fries like it, too, so it won't bother us!

Home Free came out with their original version of this in March 2021. Go check it out-it's a different feel than this live version. This went viral & later on many different people started doing a dance to this which again became very popular. That is the version that got Ubisoft's attention & then contacted Home Free to ask them to write a sea shanty for their new game Skull & Bones. Chance took it from there & came up with the song "Skull & Bones". They had to keep it a secret for a year or more until it was time for the company to announce it.

Great review! This was done last year at the Christmas concert in Mankato,Minnesota where Home Free was born. 5,000+ fans. This was done in 2 takes to make sure they had the footage they needed. It was the end of the concert. This was my granddaughter's Christmas present and we were in the front row, just to the left of center. She was excited that we were in a few quick shots. Their concerts are absolutely amazing! The energy there is unbelieveable. You're on your feet from the beginning to the end. They do sound the same live as they do on in the videos. Good to have Ninja there too!!

They originally released this song during Covid stuff, so it was one they all filmed separately. The song itself went viral, with so many people releasing TikTok videos dancing to it, etc. They just recently did this live video, which is my favorite. The song is on their Sounds of Lockdown CD.

If you listen closely to that guy on TikTok dancing you can hear that it’s Home Free singing. The guys filmed their parts at their own homes and then sent their recordings to Darren to put it all together. They did it in TikTok style which I think made people decide to dance to it on their own TikTok posts. It was a fun thing to do while people were locked up in their own homes during Covid. Fun to watch both you and Jillian reacting! Love those Home Free guys!

The energy from this huge (!) audience is overwhelming! What a force it’s bringing to Home Free’s already strong sea shanty! Wish I were there. Did you hear Adam's castanets in that last one? Hard to top Tim's base, but Adam did that one up right! These guys are pure power.

Love Home FrYdays! It's even better with the Ninja! The Sea Shanty Medley is probably Home Free's most popular song. This was videoed in Mankato, Minnesota, birthplace of HF and Adam Rupp. I think its popularity surprised HF. It was a Lockdown song, when they were so creative. Keep up the good reactions. And, it's a reaction channel; you're suppose to pause and comment! (Although I'm with Jillian; I can't listen to the music & hubby at the same time!)

I love the cool TikTok-y version they released during lock down, especially Adam’s castanets, but Rob 🧸 is extra when he’s singing live. These are old sailor work songs, from at least the 1830’s, but I like that this live version was released right before Talk like a Pirate day. Arrrrgh 🏴‍☠️ Thanks to you both.

"It's more fun with both of us" - so true! Yes, you've got to go see them for sure - my wife and I finally got to see them last Sunday, which was so much fun! You can hear the first few songs from "our" concert on the livestream (it starts about 8 minutes in). As for pausing and/or talking over a video, do whatever works for you and ignore the complainers. You don't do either to excess!

Shanties are actually sailor's work songs, used to keep teams of sailors in time when doing team tasks like raising a mast or hauling up a sail, or pulling up the anchor.

This originally came out during Covid and the boys have a video of it. They filmed it at their homes. It was a huge hit and Ubisoft (game maker) saw it and asked Chance to write a sea shanty for their new pirate game Skull and Bones and he did! I love that song. I think they’ll make a video of that one too. Right now they just have a lyric video with scenes from the game. It’s a banger of a song! Love this one too!!! So much fun to see you and Ninja together! 😍🥰

You'll probably also want to react to their original pre-recorded video for this one. Lots of pirates on the screen and Tim's low notes....🏴‍☠ On the other video you'll also get a really good listen to Adam's castanets. Thank you for another great reaction and Hi Ninja!!!! Jeremy does NOT talk too much normally. Also, I don't mind a little bit of pausing & commenting. Some reactors pause way too much. I can't stand it and have stopped following many reactors because of it. I love the way y'all structure the videos the best.

Just as a bit of info, sea shanties while now entertaining, served a purpose in the day of sailing ships. You might have one guy on board a ship responsible for them. The same melody would have several different wordings. They were important for entertaining as well as work. Many jobs, aboard a wooden sailing ship, were hard and monotonous. A crewman might start a shanty for the crew to keep time and stay energized while hauling spars up the mast, hauling anchor, or while sanding the deck clean. The decks weren't painted, they were raw wood. To clean then sailors were given rectangular shaped stones. The crewmen would be on their knees, wetting the deck (with sea water) then using these stones on the deck. Because of their size (about that of a personal Bible back then) they were referred to as "holy stones". Singing the shanty kept them in time. Another time they were important was if the ship was becalmed. Not enough breeze to move it. The captain might asking crewmen to small oar powered boats. These were then used to tow the ship to an area where a lookout may have seen wave action indicating wind. The shanty again kept them in time and entertained while rowing.

Hi you 2 lovely people. The pauses are just fine! Many reactors pause for their input, and I appreciate that aspect. Jeremy, you have made me personally more aware of the background musicality (Adam) and how completely amazing he is. Other reactors speak to the background vocals more. I love the music knowledge that you bring to the reaction. And, as for the beautiful Ninja, it’s her pure joy as she listens that make her so engaging to watch. Keep doing what you do, and to heck with any haters. Much love from your Canadian fan. And… Happy Thanksgiving here in Canada this weekend ❤❤❤

Sea shanties aren't specifically pirate songs. They're just sailor work songs. Some tasks require people coordinate motions, and having song with a good beat helps. Likewise, just having a song to sing or listen to during drudge work helps and a lot of sailor work is boring.

I was at this concert. It was last December in Mankato MN. The crowd went crazy when they announced they were recording this song for a live video. So fun!!!!! This was Chance's baby. He's really into sea shanties and was asked to write the Skull and Bones song for the video game because of this medly. You should watch the original video for this song, they're all dressed as pirates. It was filmed during the pandemic. Thanks guys. Great HomeFriday as always.

It is actuality HF's version that is used in the TikTok video. It went viral. But I'm on board with Little Ninja on the pausing instead of talking over the song. Personally, I prefer to have the video paused when you want to say something. Then rewind it a smidgen before playing the video again. That way you don't miss anything like you do when you talk over the song. Either way, I'll take it any way you give it because you guys are awesome.

How does one make the live sound better than the controlled studio you have almost infinite control nuances to tweak and refine with incredible refinements. Yet Home Free just blows our minds an does it right out there in front of everyone well it is a winner!! Probably eating the chicken dinner later, well heck they won it right?? Totally Epic!!!. It is just plain fun to review and realize their gifts and talents are over the top extraordinary. This group can simply stand tall amongst the industry vocalist peers (groups and gifted vocalists). They bring about an excitement intrigue wondering what they will produce for us today, near future and the years to come. They are not bound by a particular genre and whatever they produce you know it is going to be quality. Home Free produces at a high level of integrity and always amazing the interpretation both vocally and visually with their video presentation. Every individual in their vocal group is significant top-notch performer and each draws out the very best in each other. I always look with anticipation to their next release. Thank you Home Free!!! ❣

Very humble and down to earth, you would never know that they can do the things they do if you saw them walking down the street. They don't put on a concert, they have a party. The interaction with the audience is great and they are all funny. One minute they have you crying with a song and the next song you're rolling on the floor laughing. Have a great day!

Hi Jeremy, I passed on to him your interest in Austin singing a selection from Slayer. Sadly he didn't take the bait. I'm surprised you haven't reacted to this medley before. It's their most popular, which is why it's often kept as an encore.. I agree with you about Austin's hair, but I wonder if it's quite appropriate to swoon quite so much over Tim in front of Ninja.
