Takes me back to my first driving summer, parked at the lake, Rumours in the 8 track, volume up, windows down, doors open, hanging with my friends. That was one killer album.

This is one of my favourite Fleetwood Mac songs, it makes me want to watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 again every time I hear it. RIP Christine McVie❤🙏

I believe Lindsey’s guitar was specifically made for him. He is a finger-picking style of guitarist, and one of the most underrated guitarists of all time.

Yes, its a Turner 1, LB, made for him, all he ever uses except on acoustic. awesome,

I’m pretty sure that it’s not “all he uses”. I’ve seen him play various guitars, but the Rick Turner model 1 is his go to guitar. ✌🏼😎

During this era of the band, there were 3 main lead singers/songwriters: Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, and Christine McVie. However, if my memory serves me correctly, this is the only song that attributes all five band members as the writers. For more of Lindsey Buckingham's crazy finger picking, you should check out "Big Love" from this same concert in 97. And if you do, keep in mind that it is a completely solo performance with no backtracks or loops. 😁

Thanks for your reaction. This is another great song from the "Rumours" album. "The Chain" was written during the turmoil in all of their lives like you mentioned. Lindsay Buckingham & Stevie Nicks were ending their years long relationship, John & Christine McVie's marriage broke down, as did that of Mick Fleetwood & his wife Jenny Boyd. Their album "Rumours" (1977) is one of the best-selling albums in history. All the songs on it are great such as "Dreams", "Go Your Own Way", "Don't Stop", "You Make Loving Fun". "Second Hand News", "Gold Dust Woman" etc. Sadly Christine McVie passed away recently.

You got it backwards between Silver Springs and The Chain. The Chain was on Rumours. It was never officially released as a single, but it received radio play nonetheless. Silver Springs was cut from Rumours and was released as a B-side, but it took on a life of its own. The Dance repopularized Silver Springs.

Lindsey Buckingham is a very underrated guitar player. And this is a later version. There's another live version where he really goes nuts on the guitar. This song has song writing credits that include all of them. ❤🎶

That bass riff is absolutely iconic; I don't think there's a rock bassist that doesn't recognize John's riff there.

I enjoyed Jeremy’s guess on the song, but I recognized it right away when it started. The harmonies are so rich and well done, and the innuendo of the looks during the song is strong. Good for you, Jillian, for singing along! Your voice is pleasing, and I don’t mind a bit that you sing. I look forward to more Fleetwood Mac, particularly Black Magic Woman. Catch you tomorrow! 🎶 Cyd

Christine's organ parts are so critical to the overall texture of this song. My job as a keyboard player is usually to be part of the rhythm section, but I love doing songs like this when I'm just adding ten shades of color.

This song was on the Rumours album from 1977. It was credited to all the band members but Stevie Nicks wrote the majority of the lyrics. The song that was taken off of Rumours was Silver Springs...which was later released in the early 90s on a Fleetwood Mac box set called "The Chain 25 years of Fleetwood Mac". This version of The Chain didn't win a grammy and this live version you are watching is from the 1997 concert/dvd The Dance. Silver Springs was also in this concert which you reacted to, that performance was nominated for a grammy but didn't win. Also every band member was sober here and had been for many years, Stevie struggled with cocaine addiction and klonopin addiction in the 80's and almost died, but came out on top with a new lease on life.

That's a Turner guitar hand made by a customer guitar maker. Sorry but you have Silver Springs and The Chain mixed up. Silver Springs was released after the Roumers album as a single. But was released as the b side to Go Your Own Way. When the album was released... 7:04

Apart from a one off reunion for Bill Clinton's 1993 inauguration , Lindsay had not toured with fleetwood Mac since the 1982 Mirage tour. This was a new era for the band and lasted until 2018 wheb Lindsay left the band again.

The Chain was on Rumours, Siver Springs is the one that got left off...BTW, the 1982 live shows a little more emtion, it was only 5 years after thier breakup. Thus version is good but 20 years on...

Grew up on Fleetwood Mac too. Grew up on tons of classic rock and blues and of course metal too .🤘 At work some of the younger people crack up because I play such a wide variety of music. One moment it will be something like Fleetwood Mack then hard core screaming metal. 😂

The Chain did make the album…..Silver Springs was the gem that was never added to Rumours. Also Stevie wrote the Chain originally but it was different than the version that made it to the album. The version that made it to the album was basically written by Al, the members as they tweaked and changed the lyrics.

When Lindsey left the band, he was replaced by two guitarists. He always played finger style and had no professional training. He is self-taught. One of the best guitarists ever.

Jillian, you are confusing the Silver Springs story with The Chain. The Chain WAS part of the Rumors album..in fact was the closing song. Interestingly, Fleetwood Mac opened most of their live concerts over the year with The Chain...obviously to start on a positive note. They were still together, through it all.

Glad you liked it, but it was on the Rumours album. And the offhand remark that Stevie wrote the album is incorrect. The band had 3 lead singers and 3 composers. The others would play a backing role on each others songs. In fact Christine (keyboard player) had as many or more hits than Stevie and Lindsey combined. Sadly Christine passed just about 2 years ago and we lost our Songbird. Check out some of Christine's songs as follows: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5W2fomriN6ogMU ( Over my head - Fleetwood Mac TKV ) This one has the studio audio with images from various concerts. kzbin.info/www/bejne/anWlkpKJormbeq8 ( Say You Love Me (2017 Remaster) ) kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5C0mHSGr6adsKc ( Warm Ways (2017 Remaster) ) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnOcimWCfa6HaJY ( Fleetwood Mac - Everywhere (Live) (Official Video) [HD] ) unfortunately this song is being used in a trashy commercial about some bank these days...

The Chain DID come out on Rumours. It did NOT win a Grammy by itself, only as part of the album at the 1978 Grammys. The Chain is the only song on the album with writing credits from all 5 members. It was based on an original demo written by Stevie, the verses were completely deconstructed, but the chorus is the original. No. Lindsey NEVER uses a pick. Silver Springs is the song that never made it on the album in '77, but was released on the '97 Dance Tour recording of Rumours. It earned them another Grammy nod, not a win.
