First heard Joanie in 1961 when my older sister returned from college with her album..I was 11...and "Woman in a long black veil" captured me...This song by Leon Helm is one of the greatest Rock Songs ever...up their with Bob Dylan's best...warms the cockles to see this...Mavis and Joan are national treasures

Well, she's 83 now (and largely retired from music), and Mavis just turned 85. The voice definitely goes by that age. The same is true of McCartney (82) and others. As they used to say, getting old ain't for sissies.
