Heck yea, Doode! For anyone reading this if you're just getting into Musky Fishing a Top Raider, Shallow Raider, and Bucher Tails are some must haves. If you're on a budget and looking for some baits to get you started go with those 3 to start with and you will be set for many different conditions.

Great one handed net job. Met Joe at the tinley park show in Illinois a few years back. He signed a top raider for me. Well, many strikes later the signature is gone 😂. Maybe he’ll be at the tinley park show this weekend and I’ll get another.

Great info, I always have so many good questions though. When the wind calms down and you switch to topwater. What depth were you fishing before and what lure? How many ft deep can you target with a top raider

JRoc Fishing Great question! I generally fish topwater over the same depths and spots that I was fishing shallow subsurface lures such as bucktails, jerkbaits and shallow crankbaits. This varies with the water clarity. The clearer the water, the deeper one can expect a musky to strike on top.

I retie as I see line fray. I inspect my line all the time. Between spots. While changing out lures. And especially after catching a muskie.

Mostly, I recommend a large capacity baitcaster with at least a 6:1 gear ratio for Topraiders. The large capacity 6:1 like a Daiwa Lexa 400HP is better than the 300 class because of spool capacity/diameter.
