We Assamese have no problem with local Muslims, as they have assimilated into our culture and respect our traditions. Our issue is with Bangladeshi immigrants, including both Hindus and Muslims, who comprise a significant portion of Assam's population, estimated to be around 7-9 million (70-90 lakh). These illegal immigrants are the ones we are concerned about, not our native Muslim population.
