At 22:00 onwards wonderful 👌 but especially 25:00 couldn’t agree more on being emotionally in tune with our children. We can’t let their emotional imbalance control ours, our job is to guide them gently… has made me calmer towards my 2 year old (my fourth child alhamdullilah but I seem to be losing patience, so this reminder really helped me, I can’t let his melt downs melt me… love it) we can’t take their anxieties/angers personally

MashaAllah this video really resonated with me and my idea of how parenting should be, I can’t really say I was raised in this fashion when it was really almost the opposite and I have seen the dangers of what this way of parenting could lead to based on my experience of it with how I handle things, how I envied other kids relationships with theirs and how I saw MY parents while growing up, at some point Astagafurullah I even started to hate them because of the disproportionate amount of anger and violence as opposed to love and guidance, and that made me very hesitant about opening up to my parents about issues I was have at school where I didn’t have anyone to protect me from those that would hurt me and I couldn’t report to the school because even when I was that young I knew it would beat no fruit and with no older siblings at home or an older sibling like person around to confide in I was completely alone and felt I had no support at home and in school at the beginning of it all, and what’s worse is I knew I then had just myself so I had to be the one to defend myself and would have too but I couldn’t because I knew if I did the school would tell my parents how I was in that type of situation I wouldn’t receive any support or comfort but would instead worsen my situation back home so at that point it went from me being alone at home and school to both places being against me and because of that helplessness at some point I was even questioning life itself but out of fear of going to jahannam I decided to bear with it a little longer till I graduate and go to university abroad where I can be at peace finally and separate myself from that family and school. But Alhamdulillah as I grew up I started thinking for myself and I saw that even without showing it how they should have my parents did love me and I decided to forgive them and let go of all the hate and resentment I had in me from all the abuse and the absence of the will to live I had had at that point in my life, But I am thankful for them instilling that fear of Allah in me because even though my iman was low I had that fear and along the way Allah guided me from the road of destruction and ruined I was headed to because of how my personality was warping to that of compassion and understanding of the bigger picture of why people do what they do. And now I’m someone who fears no one (not parents, former oppressors or more powerful individuals) but Allah and someone who shows more love to my parents and serve them more then I did before because I know they didn’t know what they were truly doing (because I know if they ever did know the situation I was in and how I felt they would be deeply saddened), and the best qualities have gain and am improving upon is being someone considerate of others (looking from all points of view and likely reasons for certain behaviors of others) and a longing for a stronger iman because I’m absolutely in love with this religion and in complete agreement with it the more I learn from it because it fulfills me and gives me proper direction and I am so thankful to Allah that I’m experiencing this so early on in life because I know if Allah hadn’t put certain things and ideas in my path so early on because if not I would have been one of the worst of people with the most evil tendencies and ways of thinking (which I’m still culling from me person till this day, but it does get easier the more I learn and put things into practice). All this and I’m only just in University Masha Allah

Indeed Ma sha allah. Jazakallah Khair for sharing this with us. You have mentioned a personal story to help some of us connect to it and thorugh your journey in life, You have faced multiple challanges yet you remained strong and Allah did guide you become a better person. You had no human support, which is really just beyond explaination of how deep the pain and struggle was. You were even merciful and understanding to not hate your parents bur rather serve them and be mind and compassionate to them. You story has many lessons, Allah is always here so do not lose hope and fear Him, Be compassionate towards your parents and believe that there is a good ened to every journey of hardship if you strive fo khayr. Once again, Jazakallah Khair!!

Good podcast and good sheikh. it is very difficult to educate children, especially in the western cultural environment. if you have tried, the last thing is to ask Allah swt for help to take care of our children at tahajjud prayer, Allah willing, become a good and successful child like the prayer of prophet ibrahim to many of his descendants become prophets. With our prayers as parents have a sense of optimism and confidence

social media makes your child needing to create 2 identities - real world identity and virtual identity - which is a really difficult and challenging thing to do for a child with limited skills - advice to delay them as much as possible with staged, strategized, slow and gradual exposure until they can take off their "support wheels" and ride the bicycle independently. -Tips- *good library and prayer (musalla) corner* *dedicated laptop and phone charging/use corner* -- books/figurines/crafts on - Allah's names and attributes - Prophet Muhammad - women around the messenger - men around the messenger - children around the messenger - heroes/heroines in islam - hadith "read-aloud"/readings --- *family tradition* - do things together/experience things together --- - eat together - salah together - hiking together - masjid together - community work together --- for a 2-parent household (may Allah give you strength and smiles, single parents/single caretakers) - love your husband and love your wife. mindfully showing grace and kindness and playfulness to each other through ups and downs is a really powerful tool for a child's upbringing. (be mindful on the age of 4-7 years where they generally start getting awareness) - dads and moms, its tough. but thats among the many nature of ibadah. and dunya is designed to be a test before the barzakh realm. (note to self as a mother of an almost 2 years old daughter)

Yes! Delay introduction to social media. Foster critical and independent thinking skills first and give them time to form who they are and then slowly introduce it in stages. Teach them how to keep themselves safe. How to balance their time. The quick videos and easy dopamine can shorten attention spans and that's not good. Some people argue - and I might be phrasing this wrong - that if you protect them, when they are grown and independent they will go nuts and rebell by doing all these thing they were taught not to or were not allowed to do. But I know that's not always the case. So I wonder what causes one to grown up and totally rebel and give up large chunks of positive stuff they were taught, when another grows up and any rebellion is...less personally damaging or extreme.

An honest advise. Please don't talk and cut off your guest it breaks the concentration of the speaker and the listener. We have examples of sahabi( R.A ). They listened to Rasool Allah p.b.u.h in absolute silence. Please don't take it as an attack but an advice to by fellow brothers. May Allah improve us in all aspects and except our efforts in the way of Allah. Jazakallah Khair

Good advice. Best feeling is to just let wiser people speak (not saying that Kamal and the other guy aren't wise, they're much wiser than me, but compared to scholars, we're all just students). I'm not exaggerating. It just feels good to be given advice to. Like you're being molly coddled and taken care of. If anyone gets what I mean
