Well, I daresay you’ve got a sense of humor, that much is clear. The difference between an atheist and a knife? Atheists have the capacity for self-reflection, reasoning, and can appreciate irony. Knives, on the other hand, are inanimate objects incapable of thought or belief systems. I’d wager that the blade you’re referring to has no idea what it is, whereas we atheists do quite well without any deity guiding our understanding of reality. So, while a knife might have a point, it certainly doesn’t have perspective or reason, unlike those who question and reject religious notions.

ndeed, that’s quite a profound thought. It echoes the sentiments of many freethinkers and skeptics. We prefer to keep our minds open to the wonders of reality as it stands before us, rather than be shackled by blind faith or dogmatic beliefs. Religion, in my view, often serves as a crutch for those who fear the unknown or the unpredictable; it’s an attempt to impose order upon chaos when such things are beyond our control. A mind opened by wonder allows us to embrace that sense of awe and uncertainty, knowing that our understanding of the universe is constantly evolving and never truly complete. Such a mind is not closed but rather remains endlessly curious, always seeking new knowledge and perspectives.@@JamesSchrader-i7o

Rebekah was 3 years old when she married Isaac. The binding of Isaac on the altar in Moriah (Genesis 22:9); Abraham informed of Rebekah’s birth (Genesis 22:20-23); and Sarah’s death aged 127 (Genesis 23:1-2). Since Isaac was 37 at his mother’s death, he was 37 when Rebekah was born. Isaac was 40 when he married Rebekah, Rebekah would be 3 when the marriage took place (because 40-37=3)

Every human being knows intuitively that everything in existence has a cause and an explanation for its existence. There is sufficient reason to explain any occurrence in the universe; it is impossible that the universe came into existence without any reason, agent, or cause. Were they created by nothing? Or were they the creators of themselves? Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. Surah al-Tur 52:35-36
@guitarizard10 ай бұрын
This is a fundamental premise of many religious traditions, including Islam, but it's based on a flawed assumption that requires faith rather than evidence. The universe might indeed have had a cause, but attributing that cause to some supernatural entity called "Allah" or a deity is pure speculation and lacks empirical support. Firstly, the concept of a "creator" implies an originator of existence itself - something beyond the known laws of physics and chemistry as we understand them today. However, scientists continue to discover new phenomena that challenge our existing knowledge, pushing the boundaries of our understanding further outwards. As such, it's possible that someday, we may stumble upon a naturalistic explanation for the origins of the universe that currently eludes us. Secondly, the argument you quoted suggests that everything must have a cause - a kind of infinite regress fallacy. Yet, this ignores the possibility of self-organizing systems and emergent phenomena. For instance, life on Earth may not be the result of divine intervention but rather an emergent property resulting from complex interactions between non-living matter. Lastly, your quote implies that uncertainty is inherently negative. But in fact, doubt and skepticism are essential components of scientific inquiry. They drive us to question our assumptions, test our hypotheses, and refine our understanding over time. So, while we may not have all the answers, we should remain open-minded and continue to seek new knowledge about the universe and our place within it.

@@guitarizard The Quran presents a different outlook. It tells us that the Author of the Quran is the Author of the universe. The same God who reveals Himself through His Work also reveals Himself through His Word. This is not a mere claim. The Quran itself demonstrates its divine origin. One of the ways it does this is through its description of scientific phenomena. God, knowing that atheist scientists in this age would lead people astray, revealed verses that detail major scientific phenomena. From the tongue of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, an illiterate man in the Arabian wilderness, came descriptions of natural phenomena that have only now been confirmed.

@@guitarizard We will show them Our signs in the universe and in their own selves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Quran) is the truth” (Quran; 41:53). Indeed, the Quran, which was revealed fourteen centuries ago, mentioned scientific facts only recently discovered. These are just some of the many scientific facts found in the Quran: 1. Water In Surah Al-Anbya, it was revealed: “We made every living thing from water, will they not believe?” (Quran, 21:30) and it was only after the discovery of the microscope that it was concluded that all living things consist mostly of water - while in the deserts of Arabia, the last thing a man could guess is that all of life ultimately came from water. 2. Universe: The Big Bang Theory In Surah Al-Anbya, Allah (SWT) also states: “Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them” (Quran, 21:30). In 1929, American astronomer Edwin Hubble proposed the Hubble’s Law according to which all entities in space are moving away from the Earth at speeds proportional to their distance i.e. the greater the distance from earth, the faster they are moving. Soon after this, he discovered that galaxies are moving away from each other as well which means that the universe is expanding overall. This laid the basis for the Big Bang theory which states that around 12-15 billion years ago the universe came into existence from one single extremely hot and dense point, due to an explosion of this point the universe came into being. The universe, since then, has been expanding from this single point. In 1965, radio astronomers Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson won the Noble Prize for the discovery that confirmed the Big Bang theory [3]. When looking at the verse cited above, while acknowledging Allah Knows best, it remains astounding that the Quran had already revealed that “the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them”. 3. Universe: The Big Crunch Theory Again, in Surah Al-Anbya, Allah (SWT) says: “The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it” (Quran, 21:104). This fits in with the theory of Big Crunch which talks about how the universe will be pulled back into the black holes and again form a tiny mass [4]. Indeed, the Big Crunch is one of the scenarios predicted by scientists in which the Universe may end. Just like many others, it is based on Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity. That is, if the Big Bang describes how the Universe most possibly began, the Big Crunch describes how it will end as a consequence of that beginning [5], just as the Quran has so beautifully described above. 4.Development of the Embryo The Qur’anic description of certain stages in the development of the embryo corresponds exactly to what we today know about it. After ‘the thing which clings’, the Qur’an informs us that the embryo passes through the stage of ‘chewed flesh’, then tissue appears and is clad in flesh: “We fashioned the thing which clings into a chewed lump of flesh and We fashioned the chewed flesh into bones, and We clothed the bones with intact flesh”. (23:14). It was only during the nineteenth century that people had a slightly clearer view of this question. 5. The Sky’s Protection In Surah Al-Anbya, Allah (SWT) says: “And We made the sky a protected ceiling, but they, from its signs, are turning away” (Quran 21:32). It is a scientific fact that the sky, with all of its gasses, protects the earth and life that is present on it from the harmful rays of the sun. If there was no protective layer, life on earth would cease to exist as the temperature on earth would be freezing at -270.556°C, the same as the temperature in space. 6. Iron within Meteorites In Surah Al-Hadid it is written that: “We sent down Iron with its great inherent strength and its many benefits for humankind” (Quran 57:25). According to M. E. Walrath, iron is not natural to the earth. Scientists state that billions of years ago, the earth was struck by meteorites. It was within these meteorites that iron was present and due to explosion on earth, we now have iron available to us [7]. The Quran, as stated above, has already enlightened us of this fact by stating “We sent down iron with its great inherent strength...”. 7. The Meeting of the Seas In Surah Ar-Rahman, it states “He released the two seas, meeting [side by side], Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses” (Quran, 55:19-20). Science has discovered that in places where two different seas meet, there is a barrier that divides them which helps both the seas maintain their own temperature, salinity, as well as density. Sun Moving in Orbit In Surah Al-Anbya, it states “And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming” (Quran, 21:33). Although it was only a widespread belief in the 20th century amongst the astronomers, today it is a well-established fact that the Sun, the Moon, and all the other bodies in the Universe are moving in an orbit and constantly moving, not stationary as commonly thought before. 8 . Mountains as Stakes In Surah An-Naba, Allah (SWT) states: “Have We not made the earth a resting place? And the mountains as stakes?” (Quran, 78:6-7). In a book by geophysicist Frank Press called ‘Earth’ (1986), he explains how the mountains are like stakes and are buried deep within the earth’s surface [10]. Mt. Everest which has a height of approximately 9 km above sea level has a root deeper than 125 km - thus only reinforcing the Quranic revelation of the importance and strength of mountains on our earth. 9 . Expansion of the Universe In Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Allah (SWT) says “And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander” (Quran, 51:47). According to the prominent physicist Stephen Hawking in his book ‘A Brief History of Time’, “The discovery that the universe is expanding was one of the great intellectual revolutions of the 20th century” [11], although centuries before the Quran had already revealed to us that in regards to the universe, “We are its expander”. 10.Pain Receptors In Surah An-Nisa, it is stated that “We shall send those who reject our revelations to the (hell) fire. When their skins have been burned away, We shall replace them with new ones so that they may continue to feel the pain: God is almighty, all-wise” (Quran, 4:56). For a long time it was thought that the sense of feeling and pain was dependent on the brain. However, it has been discovered that there are pain receptors present in the skin. Without these pain receptors, a person would not be able to feel pain [12] - another example of the scientific miracles of the Holy Quran. 11. Internal Waves in the Oceans In Surah An-Nur, Allah (SWT) has revealed: “Or [they are] like darknesses within an unfathomable sea which is covered by waves, upon which are waves, over which are clouds - darknesses, some of them upon others. When one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it. And he to whom Allah has not granted light - for him there is no light” (Quran, 24:40). Incredibly, oceanographers have stated that unlike the belief that waves only occur on the surface, there are waves that take place internally in the oceans, below the surface of the water. Invisible to the human eye, these can only be detected through special equipment .

@@guitarizard Quran 47:24-Do they, then, not reflect on the Qur'an? Or are there locks on their hearts? Sun Moving in Orbit In Surah Al-Anbya, it states “And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming” (Quran, 21:33). Although it was only a widespread belief in the 20th century amongst the astronomers, today it is a well-established fact that the Sun, the Moon, and all the other bodies in the Universe are moving in an orbit and constantly moving, not stationary as commonly thought before. Frontal Lobe In Surah Al-Alaq, in the story of a man named Abu Jahl who was a cruel oppressive tribal leader in the times of the Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Allah revealed a verse to warn him. Therein Allah (SWT) says: “No indeed! if he does not stop, We will seize him by the forehead, his lying, sinful forehead” (Quran, 96:15-16). According to a book titled ‘Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology,’ it is clearly stated that the forehead or frontal area of the brain is responsible for motivation and the foresight to plan and initiate movements. All this takes place in the prefrontal area of the brain. The part of the brain that is responsible for movement and planning is said to be seized if he does not stop. Other studies have proved that it is this prefrontal region that is responsible for the function of lying ! Another study at the University of Pennsylvania in which volunteers were questioned during a computerized interrogation showed that the volunteers who were lying had increased activity in their prefrontal and premotor cortices [15]. Subhanallah, there is a deeper meaning behind why the Quran stated: “We will seize him by the forehead”. It is only recently that researchers have come aware of insemination in plants and learned that every living being including plants comes into existence as the result of the merging of a male and female parts. In verses that are totally free of ambiguity, the noble Qur’an, sets forth clearly the principle of gender in the gender world, together with the existence of male and female parts even in plants. “Do they not look at the earth, where we created the plants in pairs”. (26:7). Role of Wind The Qur’an also mentions the role and operation of an important factor in the bringing of things to fruition: the wind. “We have sent the winds as a means of insemination and impregnation, and then sent down rain from the heavens.” (15:22). In this verse, the Qur’an unveils another a great mystery of creation, the fundamental role played by the wind in the fertilization of plants. Light in the Moon is merely a Reflection It is known that the sun is a star that generates intense heat and light by its internal combustion, and that the moon which does not give off light itself, merely reflects the light received from the sun. The Qur’an testifies the above fact: “Blessed is the One Who placed the constellations in heaven and placed in it a lamp (SIRAJ) and a moon, giving light (MUNIIRA)”. (25:61) Here the moon is defined as a body that gives reflection of light (Muniira), while the sun is compared to a blazing lamp or torch (Siraj). High Altitude It is infact a highly common place reflection on the discomfort experienced at high altitude, which increases the higher one climbs, that is expressed in the Qur’an: “Those whom God wills to guide, He opens their breast to Islam. While those whom He wills to let straying, He makes their breath closed and constricted, as if they had to climb up the skies”. (6:125) Who informed the Prophet that by climbing up in the skies, the pressure increases and breathing becomes difficult? Honey Bees Concerning bees, the Qur’an says: “Your Lord inspired the (female) bee, choose your dwelling in the hills, in the trees and in what (man) build. Eat of all fruit and follow the ways of your Lord in humility. From within their bodies comes a liquid of different colours where is cure for men”. (16:68-69) The Qur’an refers that the worker-bees who are searching for food are females. The verbs used in Arabic refer to female bees. This is very amazing. For all along, until only recently, people imagined that the “soldier-bees” were males. All the afore mentioned and many other modern scientific concepts found abundantly in the Glorious Qur’an, that was revealed 14 centuries ago, with utmost accuracy and free from any error, prove beyond any iota of doubt the divine source of its revelation.

Well, first off, I'd wager a good portion of those people who claim to believe in creationism or intelligent design would argue that they don't think things came from nothing, but rather that there was some form of divine or supernatural intervention. As for them being dishonest, I wouldn't make such accusations without evidence. People can hold beliefs that we may consider irrational or illogical, and it doesn't necessarily mean they're lying or dishonest. It could simply be a matter of differing interpretations of the available evidence, or perhaps a failure to adequately comprehend the scientific findings that contradict their belief system. But let's face it, sometimes people just cling to comforting myths because admitting they might be wrong is too uncomfortable.
