I have heard a lot of Muslim revert stories and I think it is quite common that when they want to come to Islam on their own it will definitely be difficult. Coming to a masjid with their queirs questions afraid or with fear of being maltreated etc , we should probably have all masajids with either a signboaed saying for questions you may meet the Imam after each prayer times and all non Muslims are welcome,add a website for the Masjid aswell and contacts . Followup new reverts because the first few years are real testing times for them and alot of them will be lost because they did not get enough support.

My Christian friend said to me once that Im biased towards Islam because I was bought up in a Muslim family. I replied "I can same the same about you, however have you ever tried reading the Qur'an". Him "no, have you read the Bible" Me "yes, but not all. Although there are some inspiring parts to it, I really don't feel the entire book is the word of God" The way we went forward as neither of us are qualified, we had picked several topics each and found debate's on KZbin by learned people. We judged the debates based on factual and scientific evidence the speakers provided. This was a massive life changing moment for him Alhamdulillah. Although he hasn't yet fully committed to Islam, he no longer feels that Christianity can serve him a purpose to life.

Assalaam O Alekum brother Mathieu, may I plz point out to comfort your mother that in Bible when Jesus' mother Mary asks him to help people who had ran out of wine, Jesus responds "Mother, what do I have to do with thee ? (John 2:4). In comparison, in Quran it says Prophet Isa Jesus was kind to his mother. Prophet Isa's first miracle in Quran is that as a few days old baby, he spoke out in defense of his mother Mary (PBUH) when she was being mocked & accused of committing adultry. This is what Islam teaches to be kind to parents.
