First off, I think it's awesome that y'all's grocer has a halal section! This reminds me though of the years I was vegan. Just because something appeared to be vegan or was in the vegetarian/vegan section, did not mean it actually was. For instance: fries. Potatoes are vegan so fries are vegan, right? Not neccesairyly. A lot of restaurants actually cook their fries in pig fat or other animal byproduct which means they aren't vegan. Thanks for the education!

As being a new convert to Islam (alhamdulilah) I have been eating halal food for over a year (longer than the time I've officially been muslim) it never occurred to me though that places would advertise it as halal but not hand slaughtered and play a recording. I guess I was ignorant enough to believe that all halal food was required to be killed by hand in order for it to be considered halal. Where I live, most "regular" grocery stores do not have a halal section. Therefore, I have to go to family owned shops that sell halal meat. Is it safe to assume that the meat they get is by hand as well? (dumb question incoming but...) Or is it better to just overall ask? I'll have to say watching your channel along with the Saleh family (and others) plus doing my own research has brought me along this journey and I've learned a lot. I am very thankful to have stumbled across your channel and wishing you both and your families all the best ♥

We cut the neck but not break the back bone. This allows the blood to pump out and not freeze nor enter the meat. The cut goes through the central nervous system making it so the animal no longer feels pain(or feels the least pain) during the process. Other steps include: making sure the animal is happy before slaughter, no other animal sees the process and that you say god's name before starting the cut. In Mammals, only those that can store food in their body(the way camels, goats, cow, etc do) are hallal(allowed) All sea animals(not poison) are allowed to be eaten. I am not sure about birds. Only the milk, eggs, oil, etc of halal animals is allowed.

This kinda feels similar to being vegetarian (which I've been all my life) If you don't know for sure then don't trust it. And make sure people you're going to eat with know beforehand so they can provide something appropriate/pick an appropriate place to go. Thank you for this explanation as it's something I didn't know about but it's interesting to see parallels in our experiences.

Thanks for sharing this. I’ve seen Muslims get judged because they don’t typically go to an halal butcher or a grocery store that only sells halal food. Those people have been called bad Muslims. Those people still buy halal meat just not typically at an halal market or butcher. A ton of grocery stores do have halal meat. We saw a halal section in the video.

Why does it matter if the animal is stunned or not?
@HorribleSmileProductions Жыл бұрын
It's actually blood in the animal. Cut is the only way to get blood out otherwise it freezes and enters the meat.

Halal and kosher slaughtering is inhumane. Their throats are cut, and it’s painful for them. Stunning them first is much more humane.

BS. The moment the centrl nervous system is cut, there is no more pain. The sound is blood pumping out and air escaping.

It would cause a lot of fear and distress in the animal if it sees other animals being slaughtered. In Islam it's important that the animal is well taken care of and not distressed/uncomfortable before it is slaughtered.

I know you have to eat halal meat and no pork but I don't know what is involved in halal slaughtering process. I feel really stupid for asking but... Are you saying the butcher should sing prayers to the animal while slaughtering? Is it a last rite for the animal? Or a purification of the meat? I find many of the muslim customs to be beautiful and very logical as I learn them from your channel, but they are also VERY foreign to me!

Super interesting! Im Buddhist, but i think id prefer to buy that. Id prefer that the animal receives a prayer. Do the animals get blessed before they are slaughtered? How does that work? Im curious to know. Is kosher the same as halal?
@MehdinaTV2 жыл бұрын
I believe Kosher laws are very very similar and a rabbi has to be present in order for the meat to be certified Kosher. With Halal meat, we do have to say a prayer before we slaughter the animal, we also have to make sure other animals are not watching it happen. Also, even before the animal is slaughtered we are asked to take good care of them. Muslims are encouraged to eat only the purest things.
@P.e.m.a.2 жыл бұрын
Oh wow! Thank you for clarification! I had no idea that the other animals couldnt watch. Thats such a HUGE generosity to give them that privacy! Its become almost unthinkable to give animals used for food any consideration or respect nowadays, because its all heartlessly mass produced and people just dont care anymore. Im glad the Prophet (PBUH) had the foresight to encourage this level of compassion. ☺️❤️
