MUSSELS FOR BAIT?- Sheepshead Catch and Cook, Hot & Sour Soup

Scorched mussel clusters wrapped with sewing thread are a dynamite Sheepshead bait...if you are willing to jump through the hoops of 1. purchasing a shellfish harvest license, 2. searching maps for open shellfish harvest areas and 3. obtaining and filling out a shellfish harvest tag. Yes I am willing to take the effort to do this, I'm a little Off Kilter! Fish were biting good, I wish the weather would have cooperated better, maybe next time.

Hey Brian I hope you are doing well. I went out to try to catch some sheepshead today ( 3/23/23 . It was really windy. I didn’t catch any. There were sea urchins on the sea wall ( port sea wall / . I did get a few of them for bait.

I have been putting out a lot of shorts and have recently got one that’s been doing very well for me too, yet Mine is on a micro level compared to yours. Again, I’m really happy for you brother. Before you get to big I’ve been wanting to ask if you’d be willing to do a collaboration with me and or meet up and talk. I live in New Bern and Fish the same place as you do all the time out of a Hobie kayak. I have only been posting videos for four months but I’m in this for the long-haul. I have been buying large bags of frozen shelled mussels at restaurant depot and salting them. Catching black drum, red drum, and sheepshead. Guys fishing next to me are using sand fleas, and shrimp, they are amazed, I am catching at least 3 to there 1 with them.

No way would I attempt this spot in a kayak. Big boats rolling through, at full speed. No go situation.
