Disclaimer: I dont sell ANY 3D prints or files. Ok that being said. A family member of mine is a general law attorney and i asked him and also showed him the licenses that are used by designers and asked him if they were binding. He told me , not unless each file has a patent or copyright attached. An individual cannot legally assaign their own license. Just food for thought

Hmmm, that is interesting... We are so used to add the licenses to our models, that others know what they can and cannot do, but thinking about those amazing models from various movies, series and games... makes total sense. indeed food for thought

How much are the people that create files of characters they don't own and sell the files for monetary gain paying to the original designer or even bother to get permission to do so?

I love all those fan arts of different characters people make, but yeah... you have a very good point there. I Googled it and saw different answers if it is or isn't allowed to make those models. I'll dive more into it and I'll come back on that. Thank you for pointing this, interesting topic about it. What do you usually print on your 3D printer?

What does it mean when you go to cults3d the license default standard for free download says license :cults pu ? Is it the same as CC BY SA
@Zachary3DPrints4 ай бұрын
The Cults PU means Private Use and you are not allowed to: Sell or Share, no modifications or adapting for sharing or selling. So this license is not the same as with the CC BY-NC, where you can Share and adapt, but you can't sell and need to mention the original designer. Check out the article on cults here: cults3d.com/en/licenses#cults_pu
