I did this to my 07 XT and I wasn't satisfied. Soon after I installed a COBB ram air intake and the intake noise and turbo spool was far more pronounced. Love my SG Forester!

My 2006 UKDM XT has had this done and a cold air filter substituted, which is mounted down in the same area that was occupied by the silencer. It makes a distinctly loud TSHH, SH, SH, SH, SH if I rev it then take my foot off. Loud enough to make pedestrians look back. It's ridiculously loud in tunnels or going under bridges ...I'm old enough to know better, middle aged boyracer that I am :-) I've also dealt with its "exit hole": decatted downpipe, catback with Pro Drive back box/tailpipe unit. Thumbs up and subbed.

Hi Badda. I recently gave into temptation and acquired a 2008 XT with the full Prodrive performance pack. She only has 60,000 miles on her, and has been serviced every 3,000 miles. The trouble is, she doesn't burble. I have the Prodrive silencer, but something, somewhere in the exhaust is castrating the sound. I also have a 2.0 Xen, that has a Hayward & Scott silencer on the otherwise stock pipe, and it burbles nicely. Would you mind telling me what make and type of pipes you have fitted, and do you have any trouble with the MOT with emissions with your fitment. Many thanks if you can find the time.
@BaddaBigBoom2 жыл бұрын
@@donk1822 Hi, not sure what headers are fitted but I know that uneven headers give the burble, which my one has. Initially it failed the MOT on emissions 1) because (unbeknownst to me) the system was completely d-catted and 2) the throttle body needed a cleanup. Both of which were done by Kinghams in Croydon. Exhaust system now is as follows: uneven headers (prob original as it's not a JDM Foz) Toyosports 3" de-cat downpipe, custom made SS catalytic convertor, original resonator then Prodrive backbox/tailpipe. Luckily it passes the ULEZ specs (just).

Ran into this same part replacing passenger-side headlights in an 06' Forester. No turbo. Is this the exhaust port for the muffler bearing cooling system, or what? What in tarnation is the point of this contraption? Right Fender dehumidifier? The Mexican loop through the fender was absent in the vehicle I was working on and there was no solid connection to anything. Just 2 open ends of a piece of plastic that was bolted to the headlight assembly.

@@BoltsNBoostdid you leave the airbox open at the bottom near the fender hole or did you actually find a way to seal it back to the fender i.e cutting the silencer and putting part of it back on the airbox so it sticks into the fender? If your looking for more content to do. If you could do a DIY on spark plugs that would be great. That's about the only bit on maintenance I've yet to do. I've always had a shop do it for me along with a compression test why'll there in there. This time I might do it myself depending on the tools needed.
@NotWBT3 жыл бұрын
@Nbomber I just did the spark plugs a month ago. Didn't need to pull anything. Was it a major PITA you bet it was. Will I ever do it that way again? Probably not. 😂 Would have been easier if I jacked the engine up a bit. Had literal millimeters to work with most of the time. Had to use an assortment of odd ball sockets to get to certain areas. Though it's definitely doable without lifting or pulling the engine.
