My 13 year old son has little league shoulder and the doctor put him on a 6 weeks rest period. I like the band workouts and will be very useful for his rehab period. What else do you think is recommended for a great recovery? Thanks

I’m 14 (going to be 15 in a few weeks) and entering my sophomore year in high school and I only throw 56 MPH last time I checked. Should I be concerned? What are some tips/drills to get my velocity up other than long toss?
@ARMPitchingDevelopment2 жыл бұрын
Work on being the best version of yourself. Start with strength and flexibility. Play catch a lot. Do some pull downs. Focus on dead lifts, squats, pull ups and push ups. Good luck buddy and thanks for the support 🙏

As a youth pitcher if I do this multiple times a week and post game stretching is there anything else I should be doing for my arm?

Hopefully you just misspoke, but your Subscap is at the front of your shoulder. It is the most anterior aspect of it and it works internal rotation.
@ARMPitchingDevelopment4 ай бұрын
@@jasonfinley2713 The muscle associates with the anterior side of the scapula. This is part of posterior rotator cuff.
@jasonfinley27134 ай бұрын
@@ARMPitchingDevelopmentmaybe I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying. But the subscap is the most anterior cuff muscle. Supra is most superior, infra superior/posterior and teres minor most posterior.

How many times per week would you recommend these exercises be performed?
@ARMPitchingDevelopment2 жыл бұрын
I'd start with 3 to 4 times a week trying to work in around 10 to 20 reps per. Again given the strength of your athlete once they start falling out of form try to keep an eye on it and let them move on to the next exercise thanks for reaching out and I appreciate all the support.

Hey Coach Jason, I hope you're doing well my friend. I am once again the head coach of my son's 12U rec team, and we have a few kids struggling with arm issues including my son. I've already purchased the j bands, and I think these exercises will be very helpful. My son starting having issues during the second or third game of the season. Mostly soreness on the inside of his elbow. I rested him for about a week, but it flared up again. Do you have any recommendations on managing an injury like that (icing, taking anti-inflammatory meds, etc)? I obviously don't want him to injure his arm further, but he loves to pitch and I'd hate for him to not be able to this season. Any advice or resources you can point me to would be very much appreciated. Thanks as always coach!
@ARMPitchingDevelopment2 жыл бұрын
Hey David thanks for reaching out again appreciate the support so normally when you run into elbow issues it has to do with arm drop or strength and support from the back side of the shoulder which we're addressing in this video I see a lot of younger kids that have weak back muscles back shoulder muscles that don't really carry in support the throw that they're trying to make so if I strengthening up the back side of the shoulder it should help support the elbow joint. Keep focusing on strength like push-ups and Pull-Ups as much as he'll allow you to take him through that'll be super beneficial in the long run. Hope you have a great season.

I used a jay bad and for the first time before a game and later that game I was pitching, and then my arm started to hurt and it came to a point we’re I could through the ball really at all is anything I don’t know about it and what it can do to you’re arm
@ARMPitchingDevelopment Жыл бұрын
May have to do with your mechanic in your pitching versus the band itself and the workout with the band obviously form is important when you're doing exercise so if you're not working correctly you could be over exhausting certain areas pre and post but mostly if your arms hurting like that it has to do with the way you're going to fall so you might want to get someone to look at it for you hope all is well thanks for reaching out.

Jason, do you recommend doing this for both arms? To keep some level of balance.
@ARMPitchingDevelopment Жыл бұрын
When possible do both, but it's not going to mess with you that much to do your dominant arm. :)
@643hollywood Жыл бұрын
I'm thinking you meant supraspinatus, not "subscap," which is on the anterior side of the scapula
