A fire distinguisher. 🔥 it give flames a glow of importance, I would say. Emerald, I don't what I love more, your unshakable aplomb and self confidence, or hearing Jade laugh in the background. That you know what a bottle jack is is all the proof necessary that you are either remarkable or slightly off kilter

A couple of reflective vests are good to have if you are out of the truck spotting a delivery or if you need to be in or near the road. A couple of the cheap two way radios are helpful between the driver and spotter. Always be safe around your equipment and dont take it for granted. That accident with the chipper in Lehigh County today was horrific.

I would have 2) 5 lb. fire extinguishers and make sure you can get at them quickly. I put out a garbage fire on a loading dock once and used 2) 10 lb extinguishers and went thru them quickly. Also a good first aid kit and some clean bottled water in case you get something in your eye and have to flush it out. A blanket in case you run into a car wreck and someone needs help. They can go into shock quickly and a wool blanket is a must.

Nothing scarier than when a fire goes on a feeding frenzy and gets away from you. A fire department tutorial on the proper use of an extinquisher is essential. No one I know reads the labels let alone the pamphlets that come with them. It's more than point-and-click.

Keep safety flares and triangle signs! Those are for if you have to pull over on a busy roadway you can put out the signs or flares so people see you. And ALWAYS keep a basic first aid kit, bottle of water and a blanket in your rig just in case.

I would move the fire distinguisher into cab mounted on the pillar. You need that as accessible as possible not locked in a box. Good first aid kit would be good to have as well.

Something to think about, if you have to put out a fire, you don’t want to mess around trying to open a lock box. That fire extinguisher should be mounted in the cab where you can get at it fast. Place I used to work at had one mounted behind the driver’s seat and another one beside the the passenger’s foot. Also you should wear high visibility vests if you are working on a flat tire while on the road. A small blanket or sleeping bag behind the seat for winter waiting for recovery if the engine will not start.
@vk2ig

Some additions to think about: first aid kit, lantern (e.g. 6V type), collapsible shovel and some tyre mats for digging yourself out of soft ground if you cannot get towed out. Lots of other people will have some suggestions too. It might be useful to keep the fire extinguisher in the vehicle, as usually if you need it you'll need it in a hurry.

A first aid kit, a high vis vest, wheel brace, at least a few gallons of water, a tyre inflator and also potentially a second fire extinguisher in the cabin of the truck. If there's a fire that you need to put out every second that you can save is vital.

Buy quality extinguishers such as Amerex, Sentery/Ansul , and the heavy duty Badger (the other Badgers are a bit iffy) I was in the extinguisher business and saw enough failures with the cheaply made ones even when the gauge indicated full. I have a favorite but they are equally good, the Ansul cartridge operated are probably he most reliable but usually to big and heavy for common use by most people.

Great video, ladies. It definitely has an end of the day on Friday vibe. This is a good topic for a quick, entertaining video. Have Boss Man make sure that there is a long breaker bar and the right size sockets for loosening lug nuts. The manufacturer supplied lug wrench is nearly useless for removing the lug nuts. Wishing the Log Yard family a great weekend!

Excellent tip. I bashed down the end of a black iron pipe so that it would slide over my craftsman ratchet handle for that extra mechanical advantage since they make lugnuts, and wheel rims out of dissimilar metal so that they will chemically weld. After I broke them loose and vibrated like a Warner Bros Cartoon, I put zinc grease on them to ease the next removal.

A piece of wood 6"x 6" x 24" with a taper cut works really good on a flat tandem axle trailer flat tire. Simply put it in front of the tire that isn't flat and drive on the block raising the flat off the ground. Also doubles as a heavy chock.

I have never really understood the "extinguisher in a locked box" thing. Yes, it can be stolen, but if needed in a hurry you might not get it. There are many different situations where you might not get to it, either the key is in the truck or the key is somwhere else. If the person with the key is somewhere else no one gets to the extinguisher... And I agree with some other commentaters: the one you had is made for putting out a charcoal grill, not much more. We have "watertight" boxes (keeps rain out) oitside on our machines and trucks (you call them lorrys/18-wheelers?). We have 6kg (~13lbs) extinguishers (55A233BC) in them and they are NEVER locked. In case of a fire ANYONE has access to them. I have the same filosofy on my boat: the extinguisher outside in a unlocked box, anyone gets it if there is need for it.

Don't waste an extinguisher on burning wood chips in landscaping, just turn on the sprinklers for 20 minutes. You have to be able to locate the valve box, open it and manually actuate the correct electric valve which is not hard if you have some knowledge of these systems. Great video, I'd add a cotton and a wool blanket to the back seat area to keep it from becoming all nasty and such. For the tool box I'd throw in a short handled shovel (spade). A word about fire extinguishers that are kept in vehicles (heck even a static, wall mount can do this). If you can, make a schedule to check all of them you have on a single day, twice a year. By check them I mean, pick it up by both ends, one hand on each end, horizontally. Then tilt it up and down, you should be able to feel the product inside it flowing from end to end. If you can it is good to go, rock it a few more times and put it away (back where it was). If you cannot, hold it upside down and tap the bottom with a rubber mallet, when the product inside frees up you will feel it shift, then hold it upright and tap the side a few times (never tap the top with anything) then rock it a few times.. when you feel it free flowing put it away. The problem is due to settling of the -fine- powder as it settles it will compact and will not function and you don't want that when you really need it to work. You could swing by a local Fire Department with this info and ask them to demonstrate how to do this if need be, I'm sure they would be happy to help you and your family understand this issue - Safety First!!!

I'm the same as you, I prefer a jack on wheels. One of my jobs as a tow truck operator was changing tires. The angle changes on the axle when you jack up a truck and the jack you have tilts with the changing angle. F350 dually is the worst. I've never had a car fall off a jack yet. I know others who have but that was for not setting the e-brake. Lol. Plus you might think of putting that fire 🔥 distinguisher in the cab behind the seat, and yellow or orange reflected safety vests might be something to think about along with getting a stop sign. Oh, Lordy! Doan be sayin' E-brake 'round no youngin's! Folks be thankin' you's talking bout some Ap on they's cellphone! Since I've suffered from chemical allergies I wouldn't keep a device that could potentially leak in the cab with me. The other folks suggesting the rainproof box in the bed would be just fine in my situation.

I agree on bigger fire extinguisher. And a better yank rope. and an extra water bottle. Better a real medical kit as what you do has some hazards! luv ur channel!

CONTENT IS KING: If you keep posting like this the algorithm will throw you in the soup and you will start appearing on random peoples page (exposure) based upon their prior views... people love this behind the scenes stuff; just don't whine and keep it real. Psalm 19
