Key Takeaways:
Cooking at home is a major opportunity for savings, but it's important to remove pain points and inefficiencies.
Technology can bridge the gap between wanting to cook more and feeling overwhelmed by the process.
There are options for everyone, whether you're a busy professional, a parent, or simply looking to expand your culinary skills.
Featured Kitchen Tech:
Anyday: This microwave cookware allows you to cook anything from scratch, using raw ingredients, directly in the microwave. It's perfect for busy individuals and families who want to eat healthy without spending hours in the kitchen.
Inkbird Wireless Thermometer: This thermometer measures both the internal temperature of your food and the ambient temperature of your oven or grill, taking the guesswork out of cooking and ensuring perfectly cooked meals every time.
Sous Vide (Joule): This immersion circulator cooks food gently and evenly in a water bath, resulting in incredibly tender and flavorful dishes. It's ideal for meal prepping, reheating leftovers, and experimenting with new cuts of meat.
Electric Lunchbox: This portable device allows you to enjoy a hot, home-cooked meal wherever you are. It's perfect for blue-collar workers, busy professionals, and anyone who spends extended periods of time away from home.
Air Fryer: This countertop appliance is essentially a mini convection oven, perfect for quickly cooking or reheating a variety of foods. It's a healthier alternative to deep frying and a great option for families with kids.

Just had to get back to this episode to report that I purchased the Anyday medium cookware and it stayed on my counter for a couple weeks. But I decided to cook bacon with it and loved how easy it was! I've made scrambled eggs that are moist and delicious every time and now using it for veggies has been a game changer!! I purchased the larger set and for tonight's dinner I cut up an eggplant with some onions, tri-color peppers, mushrooms, peas and marinara sauce and put everything in the Anyday dish stirring halfway. Added a salad and everything was done in 10 minutes!! I have an instant pot I've never used which was a gift but it seems too complicated to me. The Anyday dishes are easy to use and easy to clean. Thanks Julien and Kiersten for talking about this....I had never heard of these before and would not have tried them without your recommendation.

I discovered electric lunchbox when my kiddo was in grade 1. He always LOATHED cold lunches. We just finally started packing whatever we'd eat for dinner.

This is a great conversation! While I was listening to the podcast I was actually making rice on the stove (which I rarely do since I don't eat rice but it was for a veggie bake dish) and the Anyday recommendation caught my attention. I'm ordering one this week and appreciate y'all so much! I had to watch the video to see the "demo" that Kiersten described. I'm the primary aka only cook in our household. But since I'm on a modified keto plan, it works best if I do the shopping/cooking for us. Much appreciation for you both!!

I loved this episode. The one additional thing that my husband and I must consider with any new tool is: space. Our kitchen and house is Mid century modern and everything is original. A remodel is not in our budget. Storage space is limited. So we must weigh the benefits like how often we'll use something versus if we have counter/cabinet space.

Yes, that is definitely a consideration. We had way less tools in our older, smaller home.

We always hard boil our eggs in the sous vide. Perfect every time. Mary (Not Kurt)

Interesting. What’s the difference between doing it in a regular pot vs the sous vide if you’re hard boiling it?

The Instant Pot doesn't live up to the hype? It's a lot quicker and fool-proof for lots of foods.

It's great as a slow cooker but doens't brown well in my opinion. It simply doesn't get hot enough for that. It's also pretty bulky for what it does. We liked it as a rice cooker BUT now that we have the Anyday we can do all of that in the microwave much faster.

Next episode idea: must have seasonings! I can’t be the only one who wastes money buying a bunch of seasonings/condiments and rarely use most of them 🥲
