When I had two laptops on the same desk I used to have them both closed-up in the far corners of my desk for neatness. I used my logitech wireless keyboard and mouse to switch between the two. The novelty was the dual monitors. Because there were 2 display leads from each laptop into discreet sockets on each monitor, I could click the monitor buttons and choose one screen per laptop, or both screens for either. So I could "monitor" one laptop, whilst typing into the other. I did have to colour code my windows-desktops so as not to get mixed up :)

I saw many video about desk setup... But this is my all time favourite... And inspired from this video.. And set up a minimal desk setup. I had an hp laptop... And normal table only before i watch this video.. After the video watch... I purchase a mi 5x tv, ergonomics chair,hdmi cable, an arm mount, a laptop stand and converted into a monitor arm base, Finally i made a simple and usefull desk setup.

Instead of buying a USB switch and pressning a button each time you want to switch between the laptop and the pc. You can instead use a program called Multiplicity where you can switch between the laptop and pc flaewlessly with a hotkey or swiping the mouse to the chosen side as if u were using a dual monitor setup. Multiplicity also transfers audio between the computers. It really is amazing

@CymBan
@CymBan 2 жыл бұрын
I came down here to mention this too. I have a desktop, work laptop and another old laptop powering my non-smart LCD TV. with Synergy I set the desktop with the keyb and mouse as the server and can then move my mouse from the laptop screen , thru both screens connected to my desktop and onto the TV in one seamless motion. It's fantastic. Being able to copy and paste between all 3 machines is also invaluable. P.S. Any screen the mouse is on gets keyboard input as well

Couple of questions please ? 1. what TV are you using? isn't it very reflective and straining on the eye ? 2. Did you calibrate your TV for color accurate work ? Most TV's are not able to display the full sRGB spectrum. how much color gamut does it cover?
@freeubi
@freeubi 5 жыл бұрын
You can buy a 98% sRGB 4K TV, its enough for most of us. The only problem with the tv is the pixel ratio, its not easy to buy a 4:4:4 tv, and it cost much more.

Great setup. I'm trying to solve the same problem, and I had not considered using a multi-input TV with a remote to switch. I need to see of proper computer monitors can use a remote. Synergy is a great product, but I don't see how it makes sense on one monitor. Synergy allows you to mouse across multiple monitors that are attached to different computers. He is using one monitor. Synergy sends mouse clicks and keyboard taps to the computer that has the monitor with the cursor. One monitor? I suspect both computers would see the same keyboard and mouse at the same time. There is another use case where it falls apart. When I bring home my work laptop, I can't be on a VPN to work and my local network at the same time. Synergy must be able to reach both networks.

Hey David, amazing content as usual! Quick question - does the weight of your huge screen exert so much pressure on that particular point of the table top & cause it to warp over time? I know there's a metal brace somewhere underneath, but I'm sure it's somewhere further away from that point you mounted the monitor arm. Does this make sense? 😅 I use a monitor arm (for 9kg ultrawide) on those cheap Ikea tops & the table got warped out of shape badly 🤣

The xm3 mouse supports bluetooth as well as 2.4g wifi connection though. It uses the unifying receiver as well. You probably know this already but since you mentioned the latency of it, I thought it's worth mentioning.

It’s not really a professional ergonomic chair tho. If you work 8 hours a day behind a desk then you should invest in something proper with adjustable-everything.

I tried my LG6300 and the edges are curved and distorted and the bottom half of the task bar is missing. Couldn't fix it playing with settings. I opted instead to go with 2 Dell 2717H monitors at a good price. I think it may be related to how the XPS 13 deals with external video. and 16:9 aspect ratio is not the same as the internal screen, maybe? It works fine with my insignia 32" in game mode though. so Part of it is an LG issue. Not worth my time to fiddle with it. I know the LG is not in 1080 mode and thinks the signal is a 4K signal it is receiving which may have something to do with the XPS 13 seeing a 4K monitor (The machine is not a 4k machine its the XPS 13 i5 with 1080 sacreen).

@HelloDavid
@HelloDavid 6 жыл бұрын
Still have them. I actually switched my speakers shortly after this video. Couldn't stand the tin sound from these tiny speakers. Wasn't worth the space savings (which was the original reason I popped the edifer back in). Still loving my large 4K monitor so the dell is on backup right now.

David Zhang omg u replied! Your very cool !!! I also have a dual monitor setup (inspired by u) I have the dual dell monitors but the cheaper infinity 27 inch 1080p ones and a pair of edifiers r1700bt speaker also the mx master and the same monitor arm!! I am only 16 and it took me a while to save up for the whole setup but I am very happy u got me the inspiration. Thanks for the inspiration! Good luck on ur channel wish u go big someday!

His set up: you only see this in TV Meanwhile My set up reflects most of the reality cases : - gaming wired mouse with no bungee( I use some heavy book instead) -No external display ( bc im broke af ) I use an empty fruit casket instead to elevate the laptop and as a cool pad -I have a budget keyboard I put on my lap when playing (as there's no space for it on the table) And lastly and most importantly I use a towel to cover my set up after finishing using it so it doesn't get dusty

Monitor designed to be used at close range, TV designed to be used far away at your couch, ===> you can still use TV at close range, and slowly destroy your eyeballs
@dreamkiss4u
@dreamkiss4u 5 жыл бұрын
@@alexandralefish4236 tv monitors and pc monitors are not designed for either close or far range , the only reason that they say that is because the pixel density for images is not a factor when far range on tvs but it is not because they are designed for distance but only to explain why resolution is ok in ceratin distances and all monitors are the exact same to your eyes they all need calibration with a color and image calibrator, no matter what screen weather it is small or big you destroy your eyes if not calibrated.
