When I had two laptops on the same desk I used to have them both closed-up in the far corners of my desk for neatness. I used my logitech wireless keyboard and mouse to switch between the two. The novelty was the dual monitors. Because there were 2 display leads from each laptop into discreet sockets on each monitor, I could click the monitor buttons and choose one screen per laptop, or both screens for either. So I could "monitor" one laptop, whilst typing into the other. I did have to colour code my windows-desktops so as not to get mixed up :)

You could use Synergy and use mouse and keyboard on both computers at the same time seamlessly, I believe it even allows for copy-paste and file moving between devices
@CymBan2 жыл бұрын
I came down here to mention this too. I have a desktop, work laptop and another old laptop powering my non-smart LCD TV. with Synergy I set the desktop with the keyb and mouse as the server and can then move my mouse from the laptop screen , thru both screens connected to my desktop and onto the TV in one seamless motion. It's fantastic. Being able to copy and paste between all 3 machines is also invaluable. P.S. Any screen the mouse is on gets keyboard input as well

Hey David, amazing content as usual! Quick question - does the weight of your huge screen exert so much pressure on that particular point of the table top & cause it to warp over time? I know there's a metal brace somewhere underneath, but I'm sure it's somewhere further away from that point you mounted the monitor arm. Does this make sense? 😅 I use a monitor arm (for 9kg ultrawide) on those cheap Ikea tops & the table got warped out of shape badly 🤣

Great setup. I'm trying to solve the same problem, and I had not considered using a multi-input TV with a remote to switch. I need to see of proper computer monitors can use a remote. Synergy is a great product, but I don't see how it makes sense on one monitor. Synergy allows you to mouse across multiple monitors that are attached to different computers. He is using one monitor. Synergy sends mouse clicks and keyboard taps to the computer that has the monitor with the cursor. One monitor? I suspect both computers would see the same keyboard and mouse at the same time. There is another use case where it falls apart. When I bring home my work laptop, I can't be on a VPN to work and my local network at the same time. Synergy must be able to reach both networks.

I tried my LG6300 and the edges are curved and distorted and the bottom half of the task bar is missing. Couldn't fix it playing with settings. I opted instead to go with 2 Dell 2717H monitors at a good price. I think it may be related to how the XPS 13 deals with external video. and 16:9 aspect ratio is not the same as the internal screen, maybe? It works fine with my insignia 32" in game mode though. so Part of it is an LG issue. Not worth my time to fiddle with it. I know the LG is not in 1080 mode and thinks the signal is a 4K signal it is receiving which may have something to do with the XPS 13 seeing a 4K monitor (The machine is not a 4k machine its the XPS 13 i5 with 1080 sacreen).
