There are dry fanypacks. 1:38 Edit: 4:44 wind surfing lifejackets are better if you're already a strong swimmer. Then, if you aren't falling in the water, you can buy inflatable PFDs for when you're in a group.

How many dry bags do you own? How many di you recommended to bring with you when paddling? Two? Three?
@ethanhuffsup

I own 2 different size dry bags and typically only bring one with me out on the water. But, if you have more gear you can pack more bags with you.

I have question for you Ethan. It is about paddle size and the 3 piece paddles from BP. I already have a Hydroflow x in a medium blade, I am right at split weight wise between the medium and the large blade size in BP size chart, I want to get a 3 piece BP paddle and they offer a Hydroflow x in a 3 piece, Chris never told me if they are going to make the new paddle in a 3 piece or not? The Hyrdoflow x paddle is on sale and I felt I should grab it in a large over getting another medium. That way, I have some flexibility in grabbing a bigger paddle if I was going out for lets say a shorter distance paddle, or it I end up going out with any of my buddies who are usually bigger than I am and having a paddle for them to try out. If they offered a sprint in a 3 piece and a large I might steer in that direction, but, they do not. I want a good travel paddle, I have a starboard enduro tikitec, the biggest issue there is that the middle shaft is just over 36" and will not fit the SIC inflatable bag, even the BP being 33" for the blade portion of the paddle will not fit in the TNF rolling thunder bag I bring to Hawaii, or travel with, it still won't fit into the SIC bag either. You have experience with their 3 piece paddles, you have also traveled on the airline with your gear. I am trying to figure out a good combination for a performance 3 piece paddle, and something that will fit into either bag well. seems amazing that these companies like BP and especially Starboard wouldn't have come up with something that would fit into the board bags they have created for their inflatables. doesn't it make sense that if you purchased a Allstar airline in a 26" that their 3 piece paddles would fit into it? The SIC bag is maybe 30" tall for their 26" wide board. I'd love tp hear your opinion on it and what you do when you travel.

Great question. I don't have a BP 3 piece paddle anymore but if I remember right the 3 piece Lava paddle did fit inside my starboard iGO bag no problem. I do think that bag is slightly larger than my Allstar Airline bag though so I'm not sure if it would fit in that one as well. I recommend reaching out to Chris again to get the exact shaft detentions to make sure it will fit in your bag. I do agree though that it doesn't make sense to have a travel paddle that still doesn't fit inside an iSUP bag. Just more money in baggage fees. :(

What is the point of having a life jacket on your board?
@ethanhuffsup
@ethanhuffsup Жыл бұрын
Hey Tim! The only reason I would have a lifejacket on my board is if local law requires me to have one with me. But, obviously it won't do me any good if I fall in simply because I can get back on my board faster vs. putting a lifejacket on. If I'm in a situation where I need a lifejacket or PFD for safety, I make sure I have it on. Simply having it on my board is more of a formality and doesn't really help me in any way. Hope that helps you out.

@@ethanhuffsupactually I think it still helps if you start off in calm water but start to get into more choppy water or it starts to get busy in the water with boaters etc. I would be glad to have it handy to put it on. So it’s a good idea I think.

@@clipsandthings1 Absolutely! If the weather turns for the worse you may choose to put it on. This is how I use it in warm waters.
