Nice work guys and how true your words are, I started doing a lot of beach driving about 10 years ago, Tyre deflator and max tracks have got me out of trouble every time, snatch strap has never been used

Good to see that you pointed out the winch dampener should be filled when used, see so many youtube 4x4er's don't bother with it, (and they go on about recovery safety) won't mention names, but watch any of them do recoveries, an empty dampener won't do much at all,

Great video guys nice to know we’ve got that all sorted, we did buy some tredz on special in Broome after getting bogged once in a river bed, and we got bogged again in Francoise Peron on really soft sand in the middle. We got out ourselves.

Great clip informative n to the point . One point i add is when doing any recovery ie: snatch strap, winch,by standers must stay clear.When using your winch do so in short spurts so as not to over heat the winch and drain the battery.

Nice video guys. Since you guys are sparky’s. I’d like to see a video on tapping into other wiring for power ie, if I want to run lights to the roof rack or add a USB port in the cab. Do I have to wire everything directly to the main battery or 2nd battery and why. fuses too and sizes. 🤙

Cheers 🤙. The problem with wiring is that I can't show how, as I would be liable if something went wrong. I would have to look into disclaimers and stuff to see if I could get past it. I'd love to go down the sparky path but it's very iffy.

Couldn't agree more about people getting recovered using their own gear. Anyone going 4x4ing should have basic recovery gear. We really should get better tyres on our rig though :) You can get Treds now for $165 we got them off EBay. They have a lifetime warranty so if you break them they will be replaced so we figured that made them the best value. One thing I didn't see on your basic recovery gear was a long handled shovel, that, the deflater and pump are absolute must haves for anyone going off road.

Yeah I have a set of treds and I rate then also, I paid $250 for the premium ones. The ridge Ryder tracks are actually down to $100ish now which is crazy. Just before number one I popped a shovel picture up, you may have missed it. Love these videos we get great feedback.

@@Sparkysontheloose got it...shovel... we did buy another spare tyre so 2, still one for the cub, but at least we can leave the camper and drive out if necessary...heading to the Cape, next week, mmm might have to watch some of those beach spots, way way too soft sand...we don't have a winch or bull bar...but we did by at 10,000kg snatch strap well if we get stuck someone else can pull us out and we have a strap I guess, but hopefully we don't get into trouble again...lol, we always check first any spot and consider mmm is it worth it? We watched your trip across from Lawn Hill to Hells Gate, we are going to follow it looks bloody awesome...that Nathan (River) Road sounds like a bitch, it can't be as bad as the Bungle Bungles Road? Can you tell me...

convert the cub axle hubs to take the same wheels as the tow vehicle. not overly expensive but gives great insurance

Hey Sandra, I only just saw this reply sorry, hope you having a blast up at the Cape! The limmen road was like the bungles except it went on for 6 hours haha. Road conditions change all the time but that always gets a mention among travellers.

Never really worried about whether the tyres were luggers or were wide tyres or their pressure . . it's not the size of the dog in a fight , but the size of the fight in the dog = pedal to to the metal . . & a winch

What brand is your bullbar..?? Do you have front recovery points or do you use your Bullbar.. Have been told not to pull or snatch off the bar...

Hello Dean, stock Nissan bullbar. Out recovery hoops are attached to the chassis and they are standard as well. Never use bull bar.

Thanks Kurt - very good and simple explanations. Can you use the snatch strap as a winch extension? (If so, then we don't need both a winch extender and a snatch strap). Also I gather you can only use the pulley with the winch cable given the size and shape of the pulley - how do you get the winch rope through the pulley? Also, can you show us rebuilding a winch?

G'day Benny, you got some great questions. I may have a rebuild video, just wondering if it's good enough atm. I'll have to do some more vids on the rest of the gear. As for the snatch strap I think it's made differently so you can't but I'll do some research on that. The pulley opens up on itself but its hard to explain over text. Cheers 🤙
