When you said, "don't say すみません when saying, 'I'm sorry for your loss,' or they might suspect you had something to do with it," it reminded me of something funny from my childhood. Me and my sisters used to say things like "I'm gonna kill you," just quoting what we heard on TV. One day, our father heard that and told us not to say that. I was confused, thinking, "but we were just quoting the TV show. We didn't mean it..." Then one day, years later, I was watching some crime show. A guy was being interrogated. The cop said, "that night you were heard saying to him, 'I'm gonna kill you!' " At that moment, it hit me. You shouldn't say, "I'm gonna kill you," because if that person later dies, you could become a suspect.

I know everybody must be nice to his mama, even If she gets angry easily sometimes.there ist a reason for that, it would be unwise to give the blame to somebody else vor that, people argue sometimes, the best way to solve the problem is to be nice to each other. Thank you for your advice

Misa sensei thanks for the very useful lesson. I didn't catch it in the video, but what is the difference between the "o" honorary prefix and the "go" honorary prefix? Is "go" used for events that aren't reoccurring?
@zamooti4505
@zamooti4505 2 жыл бұрын
It has to do with the reading of the kanjis. In general, if it’s a purely Japanese word it will have “o” (お弁当、お金、お母さん, etc) and if it’s read with their Chinese reading then it’s “go” (ご両親、ご飯、ご結婚). They serve the exact same purpose tho, making it honorific. I’m not sure if there are exceptions or not

Can you say ご出産おめでとうございます to a new father? Or is it something you only say to the mother?
@zeroimpact742
@zeroimpact742 2 жыл бұрын
Your concern is a valid one, and it is strange to say that line to men because childbirth is for women. I recommend you to say to the father like this, お子様のご誕生おめでとうございます(formal) お子さんの誕生おめでとう(informal) that means 'Congratulations on the birth of your child!'

In English "take care" has become a farewell. Is it strange to use お大事に for any situation other than someone being sick or something)(ex: a gift) being handed from one person to another?
@Jerk2127
@Jerk2127 2 жыл бұрын
yes. Don't use it in any other context lol. Usually it's the staff in the clinic, hospital or pharmacy that says odaijini on a regular basis, or other people when they heard you're sick, they also say "odaijini" to you. So it has a specific context health related context, mainly. I never heard it like the English "take care" it sounds super weird, you may get looks lol.

@zeroimpact742

Assuming that you knew the person's marriage was in trouble, you can say 離婚できてよかったね(I'm glad you were able to get a divorce). 離婚おめでとう is not a common way of saying it and sounds sarcastic.
