Must Know - Walking Bassline - 3 LEVELS

I put D'Addario CHROM (Flat wounds strings) 12-52 set and I replaced 016, 018 on 1st & 2nd strings (Pat Martino Style!). My Ibanez AZES31 with the flats makes lovely jazzy tone!

I've switched to the D'Adarrio XL strings too I'm using 9-48 have never experimented with flat wounds but for jazz walking bass lines it makes sense to try. Thank you for reminding me to get on those walking bass lines first person I think of is Joe Pass who is one of my all time favorite. I'm sure I'll find the full lesson in your Guitar Wisdom which I've finally subscribed to. Thank you Tomo.

I think the tone is nicer with the thicker strings, but I saw video with Pat Martino and he explained that his reason for using the heavier strings was so he would not break them! He said he never could learn to pick softly, so he got thicker strings to save money. He was a really interesting and talented man. Thanks for posting and Happy New Year.
