@@TomoFujitaMusic Hi Tomo, just wanted to understand the theory to this. At time 9:20 and 9:22 you are hitting bass notes G and hammering onto A on the low E string . So to me you are going from Minor 3rd to 4th in the key of E as your main chord is E7 (E , G# and D). So are you mixing major and minor in the key of E? Thankyou

@@rajeshgumber363 Great question! I apply the theory some part of music but not everything. Those are baseline that I heard it from old record. It sounds great! b3 is also #9 or chromatic to Major 3rd so I don't really analyze as b3 sometimes... more like a spice note! That's how I understand music. Not math way. Thank you!

Tomo-san, this is an awesome lesson - thanks for sharing your knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm...and humour (1:40 "I'm going too fast because I had a second cup of coffee" 😉). That Bobcat looks and sounds great and the riffs and fills are fantastic. I suspect that with a small amount of Wah effect they would be enhanced even more. Thank you for this great lesson. 🙏

Dont know if you agree but i use a few chords with muted strings. The muted strings have dull or dead harmonics so any live notes you hit give these dead harmonics a kick of life if only for a fraction of a second and makes the chord sound more interesting.

At one point I was just fascinated by your speed and, I already know how fast you can play funky rhythm guitar but, WOW Tomo! Maybe that second cup of coffee went straight to your right hand 🤣 I always love that Tomo Fujita triplet thing you do. I call it triplets but it's more like quintuplets or 2 and 2/3s of triplets. Whatever it is it's unique to you. I love how your limitations forced you to come up with something that probably is a limitation for many other guitar players. You stay in one small area just above the strings when you do it so it's all in your wrist. Like shaking off water. That and your bending to a half step, then a whole and then 1 and a half are both traits of yours that makes it unique to you. I'd know your playing even if I couldn't see you and hadn't heard what you're playing before. I've watched you (listened to you) so much now. Very cool to hear you get funky , and I love that Vox! Looks great, sounds great for what you're playing and, my first time seeing that one. Talk to you soon Tomo! Thanks for the great and entertaining lesson video. I think I could learn it very slowly and increase to a normal human speed , but not expecting anything. Maybe I'll find my limitations in there somewhere but, it's okay. @@TomoFujitaMusic "Are you listening Tomo?" meaning like WOW, do you hear yourself playing? 🤣 I love guitar and I'm a coffee junkie myself ! Coffee is a mood elevator ! Guitar makes me happy and, coffee is scientifically proven to be great for your mind, ability to focus and think. Makes you happy too. ( Not too much though right? Moderation is good for most things... even guitar sometimes it's Important to take a break right?) When you get going, jamming and bending above the 12th fret on the G string with your 3rd finger and holding the high E with your index (you know that pretty common blues riff) and you repeat the bend a few times. I remember you saying, I forget who you were jamming with "That's hard" and then laughing 🤣 I remember thinking that even Tomo has limits to the strength in his fingers before he needs a rest. That means there's hope for a guitarist like me! Intermediate (or intermediate on some things and beginner on others.... even mastered a couple of things sort of...I don't have to think about certain things or struggle. I hardly make mistakes ever with some things that as a beginner looked like magic!!) I've still got a lot of my journey ahead of me before I get close to my full potential but, I'm confident in time with hard work and discipline. Dedication! I'll get there. I "Don't Worry" or "Expect to fast" . A very wise man told me those things 😂 I'm glad you're interested in the challenge of the comparison video and some of my ideas. I only thought of it because like I said I didn't know for years what the 5 way switch was doing, I just knew that it changed my tone and in the (is it 1st or 5th position for the bridge pickup? I've heard different guitarists say different things. Some say 1st position is neck pickup 😂) bridge (humbucker in my case on my first electric guitar) it made my amp get quiet too 😂 I never knew anything about a 60 cycle hum or a humbucker. I only knew I heard changes in tone. Looking back, I could have asked someone, I don't know why I didn't. I asked about everything else. My friends who were learning along with me were into equipment and I was more interested in technique and playing. Not Marshall stacks if I'm just begining to learn open chords and pentatonic scales. I want to take some of the technique I've learned and start to back up to where I have no foundation. Some are impressed with jamming in pentatonic but, now I know about triads, modes, and so much knowledge I never acquired. So it's not as much fun as it was back then. To repeat yourself. I want to express so much more...in time! I'm glad you're thinking about the video. If you think 3 , or 5 , or 7 can work then I trust you. You know your guitars and what you want to teach and show using them. So take your time thinking, have coffee and "Listen to yourself" right? WOW! That's my sound! That's the Tomo Fujita tone and techniques 😂 I'm happy that you're going to do it! It's an honor that you take my suggestion for a video! I feel special 😂 good feeling! Guitar makes my life so rich inside! For example, my new funk song, parts are pretty tough so my hand (right hand) get very tired because the part is pretty hard so there is break down section where I don't have to play.. that's how I recover myself! The rest is built in! Please enjoy guitar playing! Foundation, you can fill everything you need at Guitar Wisdom. I put so much my energy & soul into that site. I make videos everyday so I have to sit down and watch each videos at the end of each day. ONLY WAY TO IMPROVE is TO LISTEN YOURSELF. Another word, if you don't record yourself, no matter how long to practice, definitely you wont improve!

@@TomoFujitaMusic I must have confused you describing the riff. I meant above the 12th fret the kinda common blues riff where you bend the G! With your third finger and keep your index 2 steps back on the High E. I typed 3rd finger on the E 😂 which means you'd need 2 3rd fingers. 😂 Sorry about that. You understood about hands and fingers getting tired so thank you for your thoughtful response! You're only human so you know how sometimes we think that someone who's more skilled at playing isn't built the same as us. I used to listen to all the masters of guitar. My heroes right. I'd listen and watch on MTV in the 80s. On talk shows or Saturday Night Live. The only way to watch (not like now of course) . So I remember renting a video of Led Zeppelin ( The Song Remains The Same) and watching Jimmy Page for the first time when I was 17. I'd been listening to the soundtrack since I was 11 or 12 but never saw (even for 1 second) him playing live. (One example of many) and I remember watching almost in a trance how he played. It was like magic to me! So effortless! Playing with such ease! I was just learning on an acoustic. I'd learn something that had a lot of distortion but I'd play it on electric. By the time I got to play electric and use distortion and I was starting to play some lead, I was changing chords with ease, I could play and sing at the same time. I still looked at Page or Jeff Beck like magicians but, I was realizing in time I was going to be able to play guitar... maybe even as well 😂 It was exciting to practice because I'd one day be unable to play something and the next day WOW! I'm playing it ... finally! Those were times where I gained more and more confidence. So now, watching and listening to you play (that's what I began to say 😂) it's like watching Page or Jeff Beck back then. You almost feel like they're not human. So it's encouraging that you have to find a way (like before the breakdown on your new funk song! ) to rest your hands just like any other human being. I hope that you understand my point. I wish nobody had to have pain but whether it's physical or mental (like frustration or impatience) it's part of achieving something great right? Overcoming and working within your human limitations to find a way to overcome so you can continue to play or improve. As far as recording yourself and how important it is, I've never thought of that as being so important that you CAN'T IMPROVE but, I recognize the importance. I had a simple 4 track and I'd use a keyboard for drums , and bass. Then rhythm and finally lead. Just learning how to use it really. I learned a lot about mixing and I heard My own playing! Sometimes I'd hear something that sounded ...not very good but, while I was playing I hadn't noticed. If I record myself now I'll have to use my phone 😂 maybe won't sound too good as a recording but, if I can get the best possible sound for now, I'm sure it will help me to hear things I don't hear at the time I'm playing. I'm sure because you emphasize how important it is and, I trust you of course right. Plus I've had some limited experience in the past recording myself. By the way I can't play much on the keyboard. Only very simple stuff. Not even a beginner. Less knowledge than a beginner but a little bit. I transposed the minor pentatonic in F on guitar and kinda know where all the notes are. It was useful for tempo to have the drum part. Helped my timing a lot using the keyboard for a metronome. I'm coming off a very long forced vacation from guitar and now I'm going to have time to play so only a couple of things are in my way. 1 is my guitar needs a good setup. I can play it but it was never set-up by a luthier, outta the box it wasn't intonated so I used a screwdriver and now it's intonated but doesn't play well. Then I have to be able to afford a few things. The setup, something to record with, and I'm looking forward to "My Guitar Wisdom" because you put so much of your heart and soul and time into it and, watching you're KZbin channel is a good example of how far I'll progress once I see what "My guitar Wisdom" had. I'm sure it'll take me from where I am and make me into a real musician. In time, not expecting too fast of course! Soon I'm going to be able to afford it. Those things. I'm only working with a limited amount of money right now but, it's going to improve pretty soon. I'll spare you the details but, I'm going to have much more $ to work with in a couple of months. Not rich but not broke🤣 I still can play my guitar (Squier Affinity SSS) but it's a little bit of a fight. You understand. It had potential to be much better. I wrote a lot again Tomo! Such long comments lately from me! I'm sorry if they take up too much of your time! I wanted to respond and then watch you and Mike play violin guitars? 😂 I almost can't wait to see and hear that!
