wow total blast from the past. in '76 my drummer had one handed down from his dad. Light green road like glass handled great or at least we thought it did lol. Had the 390 blue printed and balanced tarantula intake holly double pumper headers cam valve springs ported shift kit the whole 9 yards. with the slicks this 2 ton monster would run in the 14's at the 75-80 drag strip. sad day when a no left turn signaling farm truck collected him as we were passing.

I bought this car in May of 2020. It is indeed an original 2500 ( now 4300) mile car. I’ve been able to piece together the story of the car from all the paperwork and the reason why this car had scratches in the paints and dings and dents, was that it was parked in a garage uncovered for quite a long time. My mechanic, he’s experienced Ford mechanic, went through the car and he had to do quite a bit to get it running properly. He found out that the carburetor, which was original, had been rebuilt twice but was still malfunctioning. It turned out that the carburetor was faulty from the factory due to most likely a factory defect (porosity). So it’s possible that this car never ran well from new. Someone had asked why was there rust in the fuel lines. Well not only was the rest of the fuel lines but in the brake lines as well. This car sat in Indiana in a garage and covered in humidity for decades. Hence the rust in the fuel line and brake lines. Everything has been replace and repaired. There’s absolutely no body rust and no frame rust other than some patina under the car. Nothing serious but something normal with a car from the Midwest. As far as the story goes with this car, the original owner purchased it in September 19 69 and hardly drove it and then it was sold via a estate sale to a minister who owned it and also never drove it and then sold to a collector in 2010. The third owner replace the fuel tank and the fuel lines partially, and never drove it until I saw it for sale online in early 2018 then it disappeared and I saw it again May 2020. I bought the car and after a year of finding out how rare the parts are for these big Mercurys, it’s back up and running excellently, I’ve kept all the original parts but you can tell that barely any wear on them. They were just bad/dry from no use. One last note, I ordered the Marti report for this car and found out that this is one of three built in this color combination for coupes. I hope this answers some of the questions people had about it. It’s a fantastic automobile!

It’s beautiful. I picked up a 71, needs a lot of work but I think it’s got potential.

Im in Australia. I have one of these in a convertible. Its all original except im running Cragar type 5 spokes. Its a little tired and lacking some elbow grease but it still draws a crowd. From memory the marti report says that only 360 convertibles were made. Cheers.

Would be fun to know the whole story behind this great automotive time piece. Where it was stored, why it was stored. This is the type of car that should be bought by Ford and placed in the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan.

Why dents and scratches and paint chips if it's only 2,000 miles? I'd expect no marks at all. At 6.07 to 6.20 there are major paint blemishes of some type and the wheel lip molding is crushed.

I think you tell too much. If it has only 2000 miles on it, why would it have so many little imperfections and rusted fuel lines? Yes, it is a very nice car but I question something things.

Humidity, moisture and oxidation. It prolly wasn't stored under a soft cover in a proper climate controlled environment.
