So many farriers overtrim the frog, thank You for sharing how important it is for hoof and leg health. The black horse looking curious at shoe shaping was extremely cute ❤

I've got a horse with a similar stance. Maybe a littlebit less extreme. Changed farriers, and he couldn't walk anymore. Told them to lower the lateral wall, but they never took off enough. My old farrier is back now, and he is sound again. I used to run 10k. Got a new pair of qualityshoes, that apparently did not fit my stance . Couldn't run anymore after 4K and it took almost a year to recover. Since than I know what a difference a few mm can make. I've seen quite a lot of videos from the US lately, and you're the only one who seems to do a decent job. Thank you for that.

I like learning from these cases as it is usually a tricky aproach. I would have guessed that a toed-in horse the lateral side gets trimmed more and a toed-out horse the medial gets more trim. However, you have showed us that it really depends on where the presure needs unloading. Thanks!

I have a filly with this problem. I was afraid it was hopeless for her😂 .. nice to see that one can be a 1D horse with this deformity.

How far is to far to put shoe nails into a horses hoof,?

Lee, newbie here, can you explain the reasoning for checking level with the opposite hand? Is that for your safety, or for the eyesight? Or ? Great tip!
@Hr1gunnar Жыл бұрын
It's done this way to avoid influencing the angles. If you use your near hand, you tend to push the leg out from the body a little bit and that influences the way you see the angles. The best way to allow the leg to hang as relaxed as possible, directly under the elbow, is by using your opposite hand. Hope that helps.

Questions for you Lee, what nails did you use for this shoe and what made that third medial nail risky on this foot?

Is it easy to hurt the horse, or is it not likely to happen?...

That’s very complicated & the equipment needed is huge, not to say the knowledge of putting it all together

Interesting informative video. But the overloud, totally unnecessary music blaring while Hollis was affixing the pad and grinding it, was extremely irritating!

Look how underrun the heels are from being left high and not trimmed frequently enough, that’s the real issue here. By trying to correct this with shoes you are transferring pressure to the bony column, not “fixing” it.

Miss11 Lady 11. 100% agree, not a fan of the music at all, just the commentary and hearing the noise, of the different tools being used is fine.
