But didn't they just promise over a million pound to build a new memorial for fallen Muslim soldiers. ? Only a few weeks ago. It was in the news. All while knowing this needs work doin. Yet won't pay ? I don't know why I'm even surprised any more. .

With Lord Melchett in charge, disregard for soldiers' lives was the norm. The British Army has much of which it can be proud but also much of which it must be ashamed. Let us also see displayed the names of those who condemned these men to death so that their names may live in infamy.

We need to know the names of those who condemned these poor souls, so their families might realise the atrocities committed by their ancestors. No doubt that they never went ‘over the top’ either.

Definitely mixed feelings on this. In any war, especially in horrendous conditions like WW1 a soldier needs to do his duty and abide by the rules. Abandoning your post for whatever reason, or falling asleep on guard, puts the lives of others at risk. Rebuild the monument by all means, but we shouldnt be making these people out to be any sort of hero's. They failed to perform their duties and were punished according to the rules of the time.

They were probably there through conscription, against their will. Unless you can absolutely guarantee you would not do the same in the horrific conditions they found themselves in (hint, you cannot) then I’d look more closely at the massive beam in your own eye mate before spotting the motes in others’.
