Thank you so much for this video. I have just bought a T Rex and can clearly see from your experience that I am going to have to go the pot route!

Thank you! I’ve always wanted one of these and I finally have the room for it… but I think I’ll first find a really big pot for it.

I was all geared towards buying one until a few months back, this is when I watched your first video about the runners. I still want one, and I’m most likely going to go the potted route.

Aim is that it can help others. When I started planting, I had no clue about eventual height of schemes. I didn't know that I could gain knowledge from KZbin and avoid these mistakes but I am still overall happy with my garden:)

There is such a demand for this plant I’ve seen small ones sell for £60 , I think you could lift and transplant the off shoots . However I propagate mine from root cuttings. It’s so,easy . I agree that planting in large pot will stop the runner problem. I don’t like lawns being a jungle style gardener , I do think your correct though to high light that it can be invasive . I love your videos. . Best wishes

@ Gordon Walker, how do you Propagate from roots, what kind of media do you use. Do you keep the roots semi dry (little moist). I want to try from roots! Thank you

Hi, I wanted to plant horsetails in an area of my garden I've set aside for wildlife, I've deliberately made it boggy, but horsetail will send out long runners too, so I planted it in a sunken pot and glued a fine stainless steel mesh over the drainage holes. Runners can't get through the mesh but you still get drainage.

Hi Ted, that is brilliant idea! I wish I knew that I was up against but I am propagating runners and I have mastered them (I think!)😂

I had the same problem last year the mother or main plant got about 4ft trunk and then started to send runners out everywhere so I dug them up and put them in a old raised fish pond as a raised bed which is 2 metres by 2metres and a metre deep ,so they had plenty of room to grow soon as they started growing I dug up the main plant and planted it there as well and now it looks spectacular ,the last count I got 12 trunks or small trees growing in the large raised bed 😊 but I'm still keeping an out in the garden because I couldn't get all the roots out with the main plant so I bet it grows back or sends out suckers 😮

I have the runner problem ongoing. I have dug up all around it and cut off the runners which were like 6 or 7cm in diameter. I hope that I will the last of them now. You are very organised to manage it all.

Mine only has one runner but from watching youtube videos i don't think you need to get rid of the whole runner. If you just cut the sucker off the end when it is ready it might just disappear

Could the suckers pose a threat to the building's foundations?

I wouldn't think that it could do that to a building but I have seen it coming through concrete patio - not slabs just think concrete layer for patio

Hi, I'm trying to grow one but by accident I've cut the green growth to the ground level thinking the plant is dead when it wasn't. Do you think it has a chance of growing back up? I am very sad as it was a chance to have a plant and now I'm not sure if I should still keep the pot. Thanks
