I know you covered it briefly in the video, there are some horror stories about the pups coming up all across the lawn, I really want one and to put it in the border but don’t want to have to manage tetrapanex aswell as bindweed!

Tetrapanax will come up all over your lawn. This is not an issue as the lawnmower will get rid of them. It's the ones that pop up in your borders that you need to worry about. I don't have an issue with this, I just weed them out but if you are not prepared for that then you should not get this plant.

Very nice. I see them occasionally in local gardens (Chico, California) and have been tempted. Is there a specific reason to bring these into the greenhouse rather than transplanting them site-to-site in your garden? Thanks for another great video!

The tetrapanax roots shallowly and once cut from the parent plant it is vulnerable. Keeping it in a pot for a while ensures best results. Thanks for watching and happy growing.

Afternoon … beautiful job on your 3 garden projects!!!🌸 Could you help me with my t-rex please!! I grow mine in a glasshouse and love potting up the pups but I really want to put one in my garden BUT I have neighbour’s either side 🥴 You know what’s coming right!! Is it possible to plant it without it sprouting up next door? Su in Cork Ireland

Hi Su. I am not sure what to say to you. Trex really does run and it seems to travel greater distances the longer it's in the ground. The runners are easy to break off and if they pop up in a lawn that gets mowed regularly then that will kill them. However, if your garden is small and your neighbour has flower beds or a meadow near the boundary with you then they won't be too pleased. I think the runners are shallow so you might try encasing your Trex with a surround of half-buried slate but, no guarantees I'm afraid. Sorry to not have a solution.

We've cut down our Tetrapanax. Horribly invasive of every bed within 30 feet of the original trunk. Saving tetrapanax is liking saving Kudzu or Portuguese Ivy or Himalayan Blackberries.... why would anyone do that?? This plant ought to come with a warning label. I'm so glad ours is gone and we'll probably be digging up the runners until we move or die, whichever comes first.

i love the "T-rex " plant IT makes such an exotic statement in the garden i look IT up on the internet and in Romania i ca not find it ... that is so horrible

Gardening at Douentza i.m not confident in that couse here sonetimes we have temperatures down to -30°C last year i lost 3 rhododendrons and usually they do not freeze ... but i will do my best in finding even the smallest plant and makeit a monter :)
