WANT TO REACH 100k, Schnell? - LARA with links: Lara Fabian is a Canadian of Belgium birth and Italian/Franco/Flemish cultural heritage. Lara spent a decade in a Brussels Conservatory studying piano, composition, and voice. Lara is a full lyric soprano with a vocal range that spans three octaves (A5, B4, BB4, C3, C5, C#5, D5, E5, EB5, F5, F#5, G5) in live performances. She is multilingual; in fact, she speaks French, Italian, Spanish, and English and has sung in 12. Lara, who describes herself as a songwriter/singer, has sold over 30 million records and plays to sold-out venues worldwide. She lives in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with her husband and daughter. A “50 at 50” - fifty live performances celebrating her 50th birthday had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 but will be rescheduled as “The Best of Lara”. Actually, she didn't write this song. It's a cover of a song written by Serge Lama, a French songwriter, a man! (1973) He himself never ever reached the level of performance Lara did in Paris that particular night. That said, even she herself never performed so beautifully and emotionaly. Even with other songs this night she reached this once in a lifetime perfection.

Lara is one of the most successful francophone artists and the best selling belgian artist of all time. This song was written and originally sang by Serge Lama, one of the best french songwriters and interprets. Several great artists covered this song but Serge said Lara's version is the best one and even told her "it's your song now", they sang it together several times. As you said at the beginning, she's the whole package : classically trained vocalist, outstanding interpret, songwriter fluent in 4 languages, composer, musician, producer...she's excellence itself. Not to mention she's a beautiful, amazing woman. She influenced many singers, including Dimash who's a huge fan...they sang together in 2019 at Igor Krutoy's birthday concert, it was one of his biggest dreams. You should react to the other performances from this concert : Caruso, Broken vow, Adagio, You're not from here...all mind blowing performances. There's also her duet with Johnny Hallyday at the Stade de France, which is legendary in the francophone world.
@Ozymandi_as
@Ozymandi_as 2 жыл бұрын
She is not actually the best selling Belgian artist of all time. You should certainly check out Jacques Brel, whom I imagine Lara would acknowledge as an inspiration for her own insensely emotional, narrative style of singing, but there are several others who have outsold her. Not that that matters particularly, but if we have to put artists in lists, and declare this one the best or the greatest, then at least get the list right, and acknowledge the achievements of other artists. Lara Fabian is a remarkable vocalist, period, and there's no need to put her in a race, or give her fake laurels.
@SH-uy8li
@SH-uy8li 2 жыл бұрын
@@Ozymandi_as I know who Jacques Brel is, i'm francophone and yes, he's one of her inspirations. Lara and Brel sold approximately as much records according to different sources...and i'm not talking about wikipedia or some old unreliable articles written when her sales hadn't been updated since the early 00s. Also, Pure is estimated at 3M copies and is the best selling album by a belgian artist (Stromae could surpass it with Racine Carrée tho). Anyway, it's not that deep. Jacques Brel is a legend no matter what and i only mentioned Lara's career and talent, that's all.

Yes the lyrics are written by Serge Lama but the music is from Alice Donna 😉. Of course Lara Fabián is very well known in France and she's got lot of fans. But also a big buch of people that doesn't like her. (and I confess I'm in) Not the voice, we all agree she's got a great voice. That's why she doesn't need to do "so" more. She's naturally a good singer, but why sometimes "acting" so much??? In French we say "sur-joué"... It deserves her finally. Even in the interviews, or in RV shows... As an exemple, she was part of the jury in the show The Voice, last year. But not this year... People ask the TV Chanel not to get her anymore. It ended up being annoying... 😐
@SH-uy8li
@SH-uy8li 2 жыл бұрын
@@jean-michelgaiffe3834 She is loved internationally for her intensity and she's praised for her "storytelling skills". No artist is loved by everybody. Lara has always been this way, she does not play a role in interviews, she's herself. They were not asked to not get her anymore, she's the one who refused to come back as she lives in Quebec and it was too complicated. People have the right to dislike her but it's interesting how i almost only see french people (and i'm french) complaining about her personality and the way she performs...in Quebec (and she did La voix 2 times) as well as in many other countries, most people absolutely adore her. Also, it's pretty obvious that she doesn't really feel comfortable when she's in France compared to other french speaking countries or outside the francophonie...and it's understandable considering the way she's been treated there.

@@SH-uy8li hello. I know that. Officially yes you're right, she decided to leave because it was too complicated but... Anyway, it doesn't matter. I know you can not be loved by all. I'm ok with that and I'm not denying any quality she has. Good voice, good interpreter... What really annoys me is that, with its talent, she doesn't need the rest. She overlays, she is too much "an actress". And this is exactly where I join you. It's a very "American" side to exaggerate everything ( the maybe cliché "it's A-Ma-Zing!" 😄, you can listen to in every piece of US series...). So it's works on an international market because it has somewhat became the Anglo-Saxon standard... But it doesn't work as well in France!. It doesn't matter. As you said, she's successful everywhere and in France too. Nothing to prove here. Maybe we are old idiots, retrograde, classic, backward-looking,... As you like. But we still have the opportunity of saying what we think and not submitting to all attempts at international standardization! 😁. Is, at least, we still have that... 😜

May I suggest Adagio, Broken vow ( both written by her), perdere l'amore, Caruso (both with english subtitle). Her duet with Johnny Hallyday Requiem pour un fou(with english subtitle). All the concert From Lara With Love Is great.

Hi... This song is a cover from Serge Lama, written by Alice Donna, in the 70's... I think Lara's performance is one of the best I ever heard... I also think she chose that song because she also lived a toxic relationship... I love her cover, the emotion and her voice... I always cries when I hear it because I'm also the victim of a toxic relationship... I'm divorced for 5 years but I 'm a victim for 15 years from a narcissistic perverse who still tries to kill me psychology... Today, I lost my 2 daughters because of him, it' s like he killed me, and he knows that... I'm going to fight, but I also want him to get out definitely of my life... So, the choice is very hard, he manipulated my daughters, now they hate me but I was the one who loved and educated them with love, he never did anything... This song is so special to me, I don't want to love a man anymore, this toxic relationship killed everything... I love the fact you appreciate her performance, which is perfect, and lot of people in this world feel the same, sick... Love from France 🇫🇷♥️

Great reaction! I saw tou did connect to lara immediately. I subscribed hoping to see more of tour reactions to Lara. Let me give you some details on her and sorry if I am a bit long Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... We can debate her rank in this list (in my personal view she tops theses) but she is there. There are also a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing without mic in venus with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: - she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total - she is an amazing song writer and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-compose the music with the composer. - she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none - she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages. She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 if I remember well (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). in 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary and the 2 songs your reviewed are from this concert. But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace" used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera topped the charts for months. Now US is rediscovering Lara, as she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: they are all coming from Europe, Asia or Latin america. She is Dimash's idol: he covered many of her songs (that she wrote and performed originally). Out of my mind I can list Adagio,Mademoiselle Hyde, Know, Love of tired swans, Love is like a dream. She wrote the lyrics of his song Your Love. And they performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina. This is a song that she wrote with Igor Krutoy and performed initially with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava. Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy. Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs: • Floor Jansen (Adagio) • Polina Gagarina (Adagio) • Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie) • Morissette Amon (Broken Vow) • Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace) • Cakra Khan (Broken Vow) • Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow) • Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso) ..... Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara. If you explore more, you will soon be hooked, I'm sure.

Justin Gamble 13 days ago (edited) Wow TY!! Such a great reaction, such a great song, such an historical, best ever, interpretation of this French classic. You are screwed now, you have discovered the Queen. Lara is the Queen, the O.G. of modern pop\concert. I am literally eternally spellbound by the combo of voice, motion, and drama she brings. Incomparable. Most of links are newly restored and of high quality and, importantly, all have English subtitles when not sung in English. I know, not everyone is a dumb American like me but understanding Lara's lyrics is CRITICAL to appreciating her art. "Adagio" -kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKLShGCBhLGJlZY - is a beautiful and powerful song, a very old classical piece written by Tomaso Albinoni (most would say) which she resurrected and wrote lyrics to. Her biggest hit really, and an insane demonstration of vocal flawlessness and passion by our then young Queen...long may she reign. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIGVfKGCmtKHbZo - turn CC on - Lara Fabian - "Caruso" (In Italian with English lyrics translations) Great Song about the great Caruso's dying days with his young wife. An Italian classic covered by, well, everybody. Lara crushes it. Best version ever and that includes Pavarotti, whom I adore, so I am saying a lot there. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXuleHZ_bcaGe5Y - Lara Fabian-Concert From Lara With Love "Broken Vow" (English) She wrote this, bring tissue. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5TQmXacfZ6CnLM - turn CC on - Lara Fabian "Perdere L'amore"...Losing Love... The 100th time you see\hear it will still feel like the first. Lara is definitely the deep end of the pool. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqa2dZegipmGbq8 - Lara Fabian- "Mademoiselle Hyde" - live 2016 (In English with Deutsch/Português subs) She co-wrote this with the maestro, Igor Krutoy. This is the most recent of the videos (2016) and shows a maturing Lara killing it. Great song, evocative, and as always, Lara sells it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ommVZ6Wid7Shb9k - Lara Fabian - "Je T'aime" (I Love you) - (In French with English subtitle) Everyone in France knows this song. She wrote it. Two versions here. One, here in this paragraph, is a great version in its own right, the second is from a live performance where the audience takes over the song and sings "We love you" to Lara in place over the actual lyrics "I love you" and a broken up Lara attempts to sing counterpart to her adoring audience. Tissues required. I recommend doing the last one, the 2nd version of "Je T'aime" below.....last. By then, you will be in a life long relationship with Lara. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGSTaqiKo514qbc - Lara Fabian - Je t'aime _ with English subtitles maybe watch this last (see one up from here for "why"). 4

You need to watch her right after her performance here - she's still in full character and takes a few moments to "recover". The beginning piano intro with its cascading scales sets the tone and mood of the emotional downward tumble of the song. Just masterful - I don't know how many times I've listened to this - it moves me to tears every time!!

It brings joy to my heart when I see new people discover this living legend. She's been touching fans and inspiring new artists all over the world for several decades (she was Dimash Kudaibergen's idol as he was growing up, which is why he sings so many of her covers such as "Mademoiselle Hyde", "Adagio", "Love is like a dream" etc, and why he sang several duets with her), but she's not as well known in the US. She's so amazing at investing her heart and soul in every song she sings that you thought she wrote this song! Don't worry, nobody remembers the original after she covered it! For an awesome song in English that she wrote, please, please react to "Broken Vow". And always react to Lara's LIVE performances. They are masterpieces. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fH-5g2OvgJ14mZo

Lara Fabian is a master of vocal technique. I witnessed that when she sang at David Foster & Friends Concert in 2010 where she had just flown in after performing in a concert in Europe. Imagine the tight schedule. Lara changed into a gown while riding in a limo from McCarran Airport and immediately performed upon arrival at Mandalay Bay. And she delivered without a hint of stress or exhaustion. That is only possible for a singer who is masterful in techniques.

Hi Schnell, I've been watching your channel for a while and I love your reactions. When you said you had not heard of Lara Fabian I had to subscribe, I just felt this young lady (you) need to come out from under that rock you have been living under. I did not mean that in any kind of mean way. I know you are a Dimash fan, but did you Know Lara was a big influence on Dimash. Igor Krotoy has worked with them both and Lara and Dimash have sung together. Igor Krutoy on the piano of course. There was a song sometime back called Your love. Performed by Dimash, composed by Igor Krutoy and Lyrics by Lara Fabian. Lara also performed Adagio as did Dimash. Please do some research girl. Lara Fabian is such a great singer an performer. Check out a performance by Dimash, Lara and Aida Garifullina. Also there is another perfofmance from Lara which will really get you balling can't remember the name of it. When I find I'll try to send you the link, if I do just have your tissues ready. Anyway sorry for the rant but just thought this bit of info might be good. I have followed the Dimash journey for the start and I guess you find out other stuff along the way. Lara Fabian is awesome. Cheers from Australia

Welcome to the Lara Fabian fan club! Not only is she a breathtaking vocalist and performer, but the great Dimash Kudaibergen has even said she is one of his muses for how he sings and performs. If you notice Dimash usually starts with a very breathy tone and builds it up and then takes you on a journey and inhabits his music to tell the story, much like Lara does 😉

No-one warned you to get the tissues out first?! Lara The Incomparable. One of the best female vocalists I have ever heard, back then and still today. You're right; many professional singers regard her every performance as a Master Class. Not just in every gesture and note - but every breath in between. She pours 1000% into each performance. Lara is also a great songwriter; see her Broken Vow, and Adagio and no-one has done a better Caruso in my view, but no, she didn't write this one. A friend of her's did; referencing a long and heartbreaking affair he'd had with a married woman. Certainly Lara has had sufficient personal experience of heartbreak to 'embody' this authentically, but she is a specialist in her craft and can convey such authenticity/ conviction in any story - with great nuance and sensitivity. Continue to enjoy Lara. { Nb. Dimash cites her as a key role model during his early studies and was thrilled to perform with her - and the great Russian Soprano; Aida Garifullina in Ti amo cosi - in early 2020 } Cheers, L

Yes, you are mostly right, this applies to paris and north of france areas, but if you travel to south of france, then the last vowel would be most likely "muh-lahd-AH". But I definitely agree here this is more for emphasis than to emulate the accent from Marseille or Toulouse ;=)

I appreciate . Laura. And for me a real Diva even more than Celine Dion. it's a shame because she came to immigrate. Here in Quebec and began to become known at the same time as Céline except in the United States. and this song has been around since its very beginnings. And then her. resumed . I am sick, a cover of the French singer Serge Lama. just like Dimash who took over SOS FROM A TERRIAN IN DISTRESS. By LUC PLAMONDON who lives here and created with a French friend Michel Berger. Due to a dispute they had to shut down Starmania which lasted over 14 years. it was a rock opera sung in French. to come back to the beautiful Lara she speaks 12 languages which she sings with a natural emotion she has the ability to put herself in the skin of the character she sings. I think she deserves to be known if not more than Celine Dion who sings born. I also love Céline but what I find unfortunate and even selfish on her part. Years ago, Lara dreamed of singing with her, she met and Celine, never invited her to one of her shows. Lara even wrote to Céline who never answered her. and it is beautiful and well received, this letter that Céline reads in front of her fans on TV. why do this to him. Is she afraid of losing her place as a diva? That's what I believe. fortunately all of Quebec and Europe adore her, she is also Dimash's favorite singer, with whom she sings. even Igor Crutov. Who wrote her very beautiful songs for her. She is adored by Russians and Kasackstan. Thank you for your comments on Lara who is a good and simple woman. PS sorry for having put a lot of words. 🤘♥️👍

She tells stories like no one, composes music and writes lyrics (though this song is not hers), her breath controll, her looks.
