Hi me and my husband are rendering a block raised patio wall in Bulgaria with sand/cement and plasticiser mix. Now I have a spare container of coloured silicon, could I put it over the mix or just paint the wall? Благадория
@yesconstructionltd7 ай бұрын
Hi Thanks for engaging It's best practice to apply mesh and render base coat, then the silicone. You can do that over comment render. I wouldn't recommend to apply tye silicone directly onto the cement render. The render base coat is designed to provide a good bond between the two. If your cement render is done nicely, just paint it with quality masonry paint and it will look nice. I hope I helped 😉

Great job. Can this be used as a method to render over pebble dash?
@yesconstructionltd6 ай бұрын
That would be a perfect solution. You can increase insulation thickness. Installation of the polystyrene would be different. You would use glue and screws as well. Looks great and you insulate the house at the same time. Thanks for engaging 😉

Thanks for quick reply. Hiw much would it cost to do this for eg front of a typical semi detached london ilford house please?
@yesconstructionltd6 ай бұрын
@@UKPRESCRIPTIONGLASSESREVIEWS Hi Can't tell without seeing the property. Sometimes we have to extend the roof to accommodate for the insulation. Sometimes the pebble dash is falling off so we need to strip it completely . We spoke on the phone today. Let's meet up at the property and we will discuss.

What if you have an extension at the back of the property, I am assuming you are not able to add the polystyrene as it exceeds past the plannong permission level? Also, Good work
@yesconstructionltd7 ай бұрын
Hi I don't think that anyone will have a problem for adding 25-30mm to the overall measurement of the property. It's not structural. The extension was built to let's say 3m and signed off by BC and that is it. What you do after is your business. You're only adding some insulation and render. Also I know that there is some tolerance. The extension in the video was exceeded in height by 150mm and 100 mm in depth and the building control was absolutely fine with it. If you are concerned, write to the council and ask, they should know best. Thanks for engaging 😉

@@Paradox1P Oh yeah. I know what you are saying. You can go directly on the brick/block but there is a small chance that when it gets really cold, you might see tye lines (as shown In the video)

Hi You can extend it. See the link below TIMCO IW500EX 500mm Timloc Invisiweep Wall Weep Extension Tube-Clear-Pack of 10 amzn.eu/d/2PUHKAV On this job we didn't use it as I don't like the look of it and the building control didn't have a problem with it. Thanks for engaging 😉

I am a77 year old retired plasterer an open textured finish like this will not stay clean
@yesconstructionltdАй бұрын
@@petergalloway7978 Hi Peter, and thank you for engaging. This stuff is pretty good. I know it looks rough but it is very smooth in touch actually. It's silicone, anti bacterial and anti fungal. Nothing will ever grow on it, like moss etc. The rough texture over time will collect dust but since it is so smooth, the rain washes away. From experience I know that after about 8-10 years it needs a jet wash and it looks new again. Normally after that time you will have to paint the walls again to get the fresh look. Jet washing is cheaper. If you are bored with the colour, it can be painted over with special paint
