I've always figured it was done to allow for greater and or easier screen time for characters like Mahidevran and Mustafa, but, honestly, Hürrem's point at 14:21 sums up how I've always felt about this situation. I always roll my eyes over them calling it "tradition" when it allows for such ridiculous drama filled moments as concubines being sent to men regularly but supposedly not meant to get pregnant. Even sillier, of course, when you know that all forms of birth control (or what counted for it then) where permissible under Islam at the time.

I sort of appreciate Hafsa mentioning that Hürrem's children would eventually get the same privilege as Mustafa eventually. She might hate Hürrem, but she's not purposely excluding her sons from Ottoman traditions.

My man turned 35 in two weeks .. phew. Some of the casting voices in this show were bizarre. The actor for Mustafa was older than both Hurrem and Mahidevran's actors.

In real life the princes were sent to the provinces as teenagers (Mustafa for instance was 17). So many factual incidents that happened in the palace occurred when they were "tweens". Naturally TV could not depict this, but I completely get your point.

Made a crown bigger than Valide, tried to make herself Bigger than anyone else even though valide warned her never to put this again still she's disobeying with the biased powers she gets from Suleiman, all these hostile behavior and mocking Mahidevran on her being generously congratulating her on Chihangir's birth replying like a Orthodox mentality and putting down women's on their age, trying to hurt on Mahidevran's weakest points without any reason like nothing happened, all these got dust from the moment she saw Mustafa. Looks like the actress is going to cry, burning with jealousy, great acting Meryem Uzerli ❤ feels like really I'm seeing a jealous, narcissist person burning with their own animosity against everyone and suffering in silence 😂😂 that's irritating and satisfying at the same time😂❤
