On this episode we install a new camshaft, head studs, head gaskets, lifters, and a Quick Performance 9" rear end. The car is a 91 mustang coupe. It has a junkyard 5.3 liter that was completely stock with a ProCharger bolted to it. Our goal is to make big power and get ready for a Drag and Drive event.

Use your lift and a couple of straps to lift and set your old rearend onto the floor and in reverse to lift your new rearend up onto your trans jack. When you work alone, you get creative.

Could’ve also left the lower control arms connected and lowered it to the floor as well.

My first reaction was engine hoist. Then, the lift/strap method. Necessity is the brother of jerry-rigging.

Get some paint on that cage. That would be a great task for your son, get him in the shop. I’m a believer of sharing most anything I have to do with my kids. The more our children are exposed to the better they learn. Love what ya do 12Volt, as long as it’s not electrical. Thanks for stepping up/ out and sharing

I've owned my 67 Nova (Lucille) for 16 years. 3 years ago I finished a restoration on my 65 Nova wagon. I kept them apart as I didn't want any jealousy. Had a little money left over, so Lucille got a respray and looks better than ever. She's still the Grand Old Lady. Oddly, the wagon doesn't have a name.

I love the 70-73 Cudas and Challengers (my first car in 1973 was almost a ‘70 Challenger) but would never buy one now because they are grossly overpriced and level more because I would never want to be associated with the “Mopar or no car” idiots.

Dave use your hoist as a crane.throw a chain or strap over a arm and attach to your diff on trans jack,lift up,remove jack,set to floor or cart.attach new diff etc to put back on jack.Did this all the time as a tech,time saver.

I see a lot of old Ford hot rods at shows, and most of them have SBC powering them. All the owners say the same thing, SBC cause they want it to run. And boy do they run! Your car, your choice Dave. Years ago, in 1988, I bought a 87 Mustang GT new at a really good price. BIG mistake, what a pile of garbage. left me stranded when it lost all power. Did that 3x, then I called LEMON. Only had it for 9 months. Got my money back and bought a Chevy S10. Had it for 10 years before the 4.3 died @ 225,000 miles. Will be waiting for the next video to see what your creation will put down. If I still had the S10, I would LS swap it. Good little truck, I miss it.

@trumbley22
@trumbley22 9 ай бұрын
Being upset about the engine that is in someone else's car is the dumbest thing. Brand loyalty for engines also makes no sense. A 1991 Mustang has very little relation to the Coyote engine other than both being Ford, but because it's a Ford it's what you should use? Lol.

Even though, the race event was cancelled doesn’t mean that you needed to cancel the Dyno test, I would still go get the dyno test done as soon as possible and if is additional work to do on the car you will know and have time to do the work on the car. Once the car is ready to race, then you would be ready for the race event whenever it comes up and you would just drive to the track and race instead of rushing to fix things wrong on the car before the race.

Next time to get the rear end off by yourself. Get a couple ratchet straps and hook the rear end to the legs on the lift and lift it a couple inches off the trans jack. Pull the trans jack out and lower the lift with the car on it and the rear end will be on the floor. Reverse the steps to get it up. I work in my shop by myself also and have to come up with ways to lift heavy stuff

I can already see the grin from ear to ear when you take it to the track. The 57 was looking at you like that because you were installing a 9" 4.56 which that alone will make that Stang feel like you just installed TWO LS engines. But of course she has the blower motor which is check mate!

If it is going to be a daily, you might want to intercool it. Vortech makes some very compact air to water intercoolers specifically for supercharged mustangs. Might not be a direct fit for the LS, but the package size should make it easy to fabricate into the charge pipe.

As an owner of multiple mustangs and fox chassis cars over the years, I'm less offended by the LS swap than I am that you upgraded to a 9" but left the garbage quadrabind suspension in place. You want very loose upper bushings so it doesn't go infinite spring rate on you. Get a torque arm and watts link or just tub it.

Hey Dave first off I still miss you on Finney’s channel! Joe is very knowledgeable but doesn’t have your southern charm. 😉. Hey who suggested the 4.56 gear in your new rear end? That seems like a LOT of rear gear to run with a basically stock engine and a short (26 or 28”?) rear tire. It should be ok for 1/8th mile but seems you will run out of gear at 1/4 mile tracks like Drag Week. You also can break those stock rockers by spinning the motor too high (trunion upgrade!). Are you planning to put a gear vendor in the car? Your highway RPM’s are gonna be really high…

Ya know, um supercharged and turbo cars aren't very fond of deep gears.... unless you are trying to slow it down for some reason. A 3.50 gear will probably be quicker/faster than the 4.56 and will definitely MPH better. Otherwise its a fun build, and you'll get back to the five seven someday... I really doubt it will be like my 67 Cougar that I haven't driven since 1987...
