Hi Mustie, i have a couple of these, proper engine was a Tecumseh H41 engine 4 HP, there were two options with carbs, Rupp used a Delorto carb on the Blackwidow model, and one similar like the one on the Briggs engine. They also utilized a torque converter. These are pretty collectible when complete .Fun video, thank you

Wow, A Rupp! My father had a Rupp minibike in the late 60's. He carried it on his Dodge Executive motor home. Great fun to ride and my favorite one as he also had a smaller minibike. I can't remember the name of the smaller one. I know it was available in the old S&H Green Stamp catalog. It was unique in that it had a cast aluminum frame and even cast aluminum fenders. This smaller one was the one I was relegated to riding. I'm looking forward to watching this Rupp restoration.

I had a red one of these when I was a kid. Rode it all the time and it always ran great. There was a black plastic cover over the torque converter to protect the rider (even had a sticker on it that said Torque Converter). Mine also had front and rear lights, even a brake light. This video brought back a flood of memories. I have no idea where mine ended up, my mother probably sold it in a garage sale after I out grew it. Great video, looking forward to the next one.

Seeing the RUPP name made me think of their snowmobiles from back in the 70's. A snowmobile is something I don't believe I have ever seen you work on. Good time of year for an old sled to enter the shop if you ask me. You probably already have snow on the ground in NH. A RUPP 340 Nitro had some serious jam for back in the day.

I got to be honest, when I saw the Rupp mini come up my first response was ugg. But as I proceeded to watch it, your explanation of how the CVT worked and diagnosis was exactly what I've been looking for. It solved a problem on a that's been sitting in my shop for two months! I realized all I need is a big red spring! I think somebody got into my project before me and it probably shot across the shop when they disassembled it. Thank you.... your patience and thorough explanation just saw my brain teaser. Merry Christmas!
