And you are a American or British who don’t know the fitness standards of the commandos and why not talk about the naval divers they are way more stronger and you don’t even know why those units main training commandos for mental resilience very high when they come out of service this is true they are also very disciplined I know this cause my uncle is a commando and naval divers more on physical fitness
@nightowl4121
@nightowl4121 3 жыл бұрын
@T Bjornsson. Did the British thrash Japanese? Before you explode on your self-ego, let me give you a history. British abandoned Singapore at the first sign of Japanese invasion and presented the Gurkha on platter, to the enemy and subjected them to tremendous torture and humiliation. No one survived as a result. Singapore has trained its own commando and army because it cannot rely on British "loyalty" to defend the island and it has nothing to do with who is thrashing who here. Let the painful history bare witness for Gurkha and Singapore. If it is WWII again, the Gurkha will be safer in the current well-armed Singapore, unlike in the past.

Many with negative comments fail to see the needs of this Gurkha in a multi ractional community. In case of racial riots which have happen 6 times since 1946 here back in early independence with the 2 major riots, one will 1969 race riot and Maria Hargoth 1950 riot. This Gurkha will be a neuteural force. Thats why they place under SPF and not military. They are to safeguard policing not defending . Gurkhas loyalty to their employer is beyond comment. They never eat snake.

Nepal is like Singapore with mixed of "races". You can say there are "chinese" nepali or "Indian" nepali by their look and skin color. but they are all Nepali nonetheless, and they all speak official Nepali language. Some of their ancestry has a mixed of both. They also speak mother tongue language (dialects) depending on which tribes they belong. Unlike other foreigners in Singapore, this group of foreign security guards are very humble and friendly and should be given priority to citizenship or to work in Singapore private security force once they retired. They spend at least 20 years in Singapore. Their children can speak Singlish and should be regarded as part of Singaporeans family. Whichever new government that rule Singapore, should not ignore the importance of having additional security & defence force regardless of their numbers. In fact, I have more respect for Singapore Gurkha, than to other foreigners who tried to evade National Service after milking the priviledge they have enjoyed here. Gurkha worked very hard to come here, and worked even harder to keep our installations safe. This is something every Singapporeans are well aware of. In general, Singaporeans have never been Xenophobic toward the Gurkha , at least not for the past 60 years, pre and post Singapore independence.

It not master but rather for mother's. Word gurkha it self is shortened it mean gau rakchak. Or protector of cow in simple English. Nepal treated cows as mother ( as we drink it's milk) therefore it is more protector of motherwood. Since we eat salt and rice given by other countries who hire them. This acts as mother figure. Probably the main reason for such loyalty exist

FYI during the sack of constantinople in 1204 all the imperial troops fled only the varangian guard fought and they fought to the last man. These gurkahas are paid very well, with a very attractive pension package, free education for their kids and a big house for their family to live in for their duration of service in Singapore. Singapore hire gurkha because of there neutral stand in world. Gurkha are neutral. They don't have regiment but even america and canada and other world countries used them to guard there embassy in middle east. Nepal a nation is very neutral. If British embassy are protect by British soilder local who don't like them at middle east may attack or have further reason to target but Nepal gurkha blend in, loyal to last breath and also polite, no political influence or factor. They do there work and they do it perfectly. That being said many nepelase have died such as some 9 of them died when there vehicle was bombed. Those gurkha (nepelase) were protecting canada embassy.

It's all a show off business for the Gurkhas Contingent in Singapore with clean and ironed uniforms to put-on everyday. After all what can arrogant Singaporeans expect, it's all safe and secure taking things for granted and same goes to the Gurkhas who are here serving and having families of their own. They have all the luxuries at Mt. Vernon Gurkhas camp provided by the authority. Theirs is merely a job rather than commitments to the country which pays and taking care of their wellbeings and apartments within the camp site to stay. Keeping themselves fit and strong, jogging around Paya Lebar Road showing their physics and hanging out at coffee shops at dawn, drinking stuff. What better live can one expect rather than spending their lives in the mountains in Nepal herding goats and buffaloes back there with no proper educational background and jobs. Gurkhas loyalties and braveries these days are far different from those in the past. I think from my perspective, the Gurkhas Contingent size should be demolish and minimised and the privileges should be showered on our regulars instead for a tiny country like us. Remember! the Mas Selamat incident, the Gurkhas guard failed, man! and the Little India riot where were they and why didn't the authority activated them instead keeping them like pickles in a air-tight jar bottles. My question is, I don't hate them but what are they here for? Just for name sake, my goodness!

@@pawanpoudel1 Oye! Barooye, I know you are a Punjabi by your profile. Can't you see my surname "Rai" and this surname is used in many parts and state of India just like the surname "Singh" is used in Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh & etc. Punjabi were not the first to use this surname as it was founded in the 1500s. Long before that this surname was already in used. Shame on you who doesn't know the history of your own culture and came running to point fingers at others.
