Facts on tiktok. The Chinese version of tiktok doesn't just show silliness all day. In their algorithm they have to watch informative things after a period of time. Also for some the app shuts off at certain times or too much use. They also don't have the unlimited scroll feature ours has which is highly addictive. The unlimited scroll is the equivalent of pulling the handle of a slot machine at a casino. Your brain links pleasure with the next video. It's why you can sit on there for hours. It's also reading your facial expressions to show you things that it determines to be more pleasurable to you.

Muta mentions the legendary Dr. Ivan Van Sertima (from Guyana), who's ground-breaking research should be taught in every school in the diaspora, all the way to the African continent itself. We have enough black historical authors to craft our own history syllabus in schools now, it's time for us to teach our own history.

As a white person I just (illegally ;-)) read a great book by Asfa-Wossen Asserate (nephew of Haile Slassie I), bestselling author & professor in Germany ... and I'm just discovering Olive Senior's (Jamaican writer) "Arrival of the snake-woman". She has not only published non-fiction books, but also great poems, short stories and children's literature. I can recommend both authors to those who don't like "fighting" through thick history books, but prefer Ethiopian, African, Caribbean history in an entertaining and exciting form (btw not just in this month but in whole year ;-). I would like an interesting book about Marcus Garvey in a German translation (my English is not yet good enough for the original) & would be happy to receive a recommendation.

A lie that's been pushed so hard in order to get us to believe it. Up until very recently in our history in this criminal enterprise we call the West, we literally risked death willingly to read and learn. That's how much we valued it and we brought that with us, inherent in our cultures. This is what happens when you don't know your history and you don't know who you are.

"The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. " I Write What I Like: Selected Writings - by Steve Biko. About the book: I Write What I Like was first published in 1978 shortly after his brutal murder in detention. The book contains a selection of Biko's writings from 1969, when he became the president of the South African Students' Organization, to 1972, when he was prohibited from publishing. Biko's writings will inspire and educate anyone concerned with issues of racism, postcolonialism, and black nationalism.

HOMETEAM HISTORY gives us African history every week. A month called 'Black History Month' in the 21st century is absolutely rubbish. Information about the continent and Black people is in our face everyday on the internet. 100 years ago, it was necessary because of the lack of information. Now it's complete rubbish. Almost everyday I am learning something new about the continent and our accomplishments of Black people. That's why a specific month as no meaning for me nowadays. Why reduce our history to the shortest month in the year? Black history, especially ancient African history, is so fascinating.

It is important for us to have a special time to reflect on our Ansesters accomplishments thatwe may be able to lookforward and improve our lives especially our living condition. I have my reservation about Black History month because I observed things from a nature stand point. 1. Black symbolize death. 2. February i s the dead month (winter) nothing grows depending on the location on planet earth. When every there any time for Black people celebration it is not plan and organize by Black alone, outsider always have some inputs whith a hidden agenda that Black are not aware of whith some form of negativity towards Black people.

Black history month is an American thing. Everyone else has history that includes black ppl. Jamaican history is Jamaican history, you don’t need to colorize history. Blackness is an American religion
@karenl7786 Жыл бұрын
I take issue with that. All other countries, particularly so called Western countries and those dominated by white supremacist belief systems and institutions, certainly do not incorporate the history of African descended peoples. I'd like some examples of those that do so in any comprehensive way. Not even African school children in many African nations learn the comprehensive history of their own countries and peoples. And yes, black history month certainly started in the United States as black history week, and African peoples throughout the diespera, and on the African continent took their inspiration from the freedom fighters and movements of black people for equality and freedom here in the United States to have the same. There are currently black history month and black consciousness day celebrations in Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Britain and Brazil, to name a few.

@@karenl7786 . I Jamaica we learn about Paul Bogle , in jamaican history classes, as well as, Norman Washington Manley, in history, not in black history. Black history is an American reaction to the lack of black representation in American history. I don’t care what offensive you take. The caribbean don’t need color coded history, because black ppl are in the history. Nanny is a Jamaican national hero. So is Bustamante, like it or not. Paul Reveres is in American history, but Chrispus Attacks is hidden. You truly believe black ppl all over the world don’t know their history because Americans just finding out. Oh please. I went to school in America, in the 80s . Blk Americans uses to tell me to go back across the water. On banana boats. Called the Haitians refugees and taunted them, call Africans, African booty scratchers , because the only thing you knew about Africa was Tarzan king of the jungle, and cartoon with Africans as cannibals . Do you believe everyone grow up in a country full of racism as American? The first time I saw a white man , I was fascinated. I absolutely despise that expression regarding black people not reading. Historically and for eons, learning, education, knowledge, and wisdom have been revered in African cultures. It's quite a modern thing, modern being the last few 100 years, to pretend and push the agenda that black people can't or don't want to learn. And yet, even for example, during the most brutal expressions of enslavement in the Americas, when it was a death sentence to try and learn to read, we risked our lives to do so. If that doesn't tell you something, you don't want to know the truth. We have forgotten who we are.

..👀🙏 Garvey is accredited with the " birth " of Pan Africanism..Over 100 years before Garvey an individual whose name is rarely ever mentioned is responsible for the Back to Africa Movement. He was an American who at one time was the richest Man in the US. A business Man who owned a fleet of commercial Ships . He opened a School . He met the then US President of the day He went to Africa on more than one occasion. He helped orchestrate freed Africans in the US to return to Africa . This Man is rarely ever mentioned of. It's this Man who set the wheels in motion for Garvey and the back to Africa Movement.. I rarely ever hear anyone's make mention of this Individual.. The groundwork had been sewn for Garvey. This does not take away from Garveys achievements . How many of you are aware that Garvey had " conversations" with the KKK .? How Many ? How many of you KNOW Garvey was visited in prison by the then Chief of the KKK ? Remember Garvey was a Nationalist. He wanted Africans to leave the US etc . .The KKK - European - white nationalists wanted " Blacks " to leave so they had a point in common .. The REALITY is as Muta has stated to MANY don't read,make research. To Many just accept the " standard rhetoric " and run with it. Does anyone ever ask how a Man from the tiny Island of Jamaica was able to orchestrate, motivate so many people in the US and beyond ...There was no Internet,no digital networks etc. We are talking over a 100 years...How ? ....These are questions that need to be asked . ..👀
