Came here to say this. Yes! It was sad to hear about issues going on. This is surely a great way to come back. Hit us with an upgrade to the basic bones liquid AF filter. Ripples was the first filter I owned two of. Safe to say I'll end up selling these and buying the new version. I'll have to say though, I may have to buy the new ones first so I can keep my magenta and green knobs! I own two shelves as well... pls help my wallet if there's a shelves update

I’ve listened to a LOT of Eurorack module reviews over the past 6 months to help me choose the equipment I wanted for mine. By far, you do a much better job reviewing these modules and their features then anyone I have listened to. Being a Yank, I do have a little bit of a hard time making out some of the words due to a heavy Brit accent but just a little bit and when I do there is always closed caption providing it translates properly, LOL. Still I love the that cool British accent! Your reviews are the most information and help me clearly understand all the terminology on the first pass! My career was for 30 years troubleshooting electronics to component level and 20 of those was doing in on Supercomputer Hardware so you might say I’m sharper then the average tool. But still I was having a tough time learning some of the terminology and at other times I would understand it well but found some reviewers would cover this part of a module, some would cover that part and I was having to watch multiple reviews from multiple reviewers to full understand one module. Not so with every one of your reviews! I feel like I watch it once about a specific modules and I then have a full understanding of all the features and capabilities of the module when I’m finished watching yours. You can really tell you have done your homework, feel completely comfortable talking about them and very much enjoy doing so. Keep up the great work!

that's a really nice comment James, thank you. Always trying to keep things focussed and musical and going through all the features and sounds. Cheers!

No such thing as a “Brit” accent. Mr DivKid has an accent from the north (Bradford, I think), while I have one from London. Both he and I will struggle with accents but certainly not in intent and communication. Please, real life is more subtle than a paint-one-colour US interpretation. However, I see your comment as positive so don’t take offence. :)

Watching this kind of tutorials make me want a modular so hard. I have "only" a MiniBrute 2 and a 0-Coast, with them I already can do a million things but the lack of additional VCA's, Mixers and Filters or whatever really hurts. Maybe this year is my one. If I have a little bit luck I can effort my first little eurorack system
@derivativ34 жыл бұрын
It is definitely worth every penny. Extra mixers, VCAs or filters can really help out a semi-modular system, but also look into modular effects too to go along with those. Here's some module recommendations for a modular newbie: I prefer VC8 from Erogenous Tones for the VCAs, the Make Noise QPAS for stereo filtering or Xaoc Device's Belgrad for mono dual filtering. Ripples is definitely a kicker too! Any mixer module works fine. For an effect, a small but useful multi-effect is the Endorphines Milky way, and if you want to dive into the deep end, look at Intellijel's Rainmaker or Make Noise's Mimeophon. Cheers, and take careful note of bank balance ;)

Hi Stephen, the Ripples and Rings patch is making a normal subtractive patch (oscillator into filter/Ripples) then that whole sound is going into Rings, so Rings is used as a resonator effect, not just a voice on its own.

Ben , what are the differences between the original ripples vcf & this 2020 version? Call me crazy, but I bought the original ripples & wasn't super satisfied with the results. Towards the end of the video, you can see that he has mixed two envelopes in with a sample and hold using Shades. The sample and hold is moving the level of the envelopes. I think that’s probably what’s giving it the accent effect during the acid jams.
