In Pakistan and India, yakhni is simply stock or broth. It is often the base for many foods including pilaf (pulao) and other shorbas or soups. Mutton Pulao is a dish fairly common in North Indian, South Indian and Pakistani and Turkish cuisine that incorporates mutton into a rice pilaf.
The rice used is almost invariably Basmati or a close variant. Even though Mutton Pulao resembles Mutton Biryani in many respects, there are subtle differences, apparent largely in the use of different set of spices.

4. Onions - 4
5. Clarified Butter / Ghee - 100 gm
6. Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
7. Coriander Powder - 2 tsp
8. Red Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
9. Salt - 2 tbsp
10. Green Chillies - 4
11. Coriander - 25 gms
12. Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tbsp
13. Lemon - 1
14. Saffron - 1 pinch
15. Hot Spices | Star Anise - 2, Bay Leaf - 1, Black Pepper - 15, Black Cardamom - 2, Cloves - 6, Stone Flower - 5 gms, Green Cardamom - 4, Garlic - 1, All Spice / Kabab Chini - 10
16. Next set of spices | 2 green cardamoms, 2 black cardamom, 2-3 bay leaves, 6 cloves, 10 black pepper, 1 tbsp fennel seeds, 1 tbsp cumin seeds
