I can assure you, the basic costs of simply owning a mid 30's sailboat are EXTREME, especially here in Florida where I believe Sam is from. My 33.5 is over 1000$ a month just in marina fee's, insurance, and other generic basic costs of maintenance. All of that each month even if it never so much as leaves the marina to go out into the water. You can literally get sailboats for FREE at many marinas right now. It's the upkeep costs that are the real grind.

Great round-up of some pretty interesting products, Sam. I'm a coffee lover, and I've seen the Outin before. You can use hot water in it and then it will use power just to operate the pump. Using water from cold needs more power, so maybe jetboil the water first when you're making coffee for a lovely Norwegian.

From what I've heard, currently available hydrogenerators require a boat that can do a minimum of 7 knots to put out any real power so that's typically a 35' boat or longer.
