I'm actually one of the first people who have subscribed to you and it's good to see that your channel keeps going and slowly but steadily, you gain more and more subscribers. Communication is definitely one of the best tracks Armin has ever produced, so it's good to finally hear the story behind its creation. In the future, if it's possible, I would really like to see an interview with Andreas Schmidt (aka Pervading Call, Pervading Call Two, Ace Da Brain, Baced, Ace's Delight, etc.). I genuinely think that he is one of the best, if not the best trance producer of all time. I think he is someone who managed to understand the genre on a way deeper level than most other people in the scene and was able to make some really striking and standout tracks. He is the same to trance music as Stanley Kubrick was to the movies/cinema. I'm particularly interested in hearing how he came up with Magic Waters. This track perfectly encapsulates everything about life. It's very euphoric, energetic and emotional. It tells you a story about birth, about death, about love, about nature, about hard times in your life and about good times.
@muzikxpress5 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! And Andreas is an amazing producer for sure, but I'm pretty picky when it comes to interviews and people that I send interview requests too. Mainly because this is a lot of work, which I all do in my spare time ( I have 2 jobs right now), so for now I'm aiming for people that had some "real" classics / hit records, where I can talk about (in all kinds of genres, not just trance). Also I have no travel budget, so I can only interview people that live close to me, or people that visit The Netherlands. Plus it needs to be possible to sit down in person as well to record the interview, which is not always easy either ;-) Anyway, for the next weeks there should be at least 5 more interviews (most are trance related), but I'm gonna try to get some people from other genres as well, since I don't want to focus too much on just 1 genre :)

I don't listen to ASOT mostly because i think trance isn't trance anymore; the genre has shifted towards regular dance, genres that are popular among a wider audience. I may ofcourse be wrong. Looking at this interview, it seems that Armin is proud of his achievements and still is the same Armin that created the classic "Communication" all these years ago. It's safe to say that Armin is very talented, proficient, and i admire the way he is able to extensively talk about his professional experiences in life. Great interview! Yet again a totally new insight into the soul of an artist.
@bryanpereira535 жыл бұрын
Agree. It's funny, I don't like to ASOT like I used to, but this interview makes me happy. A lot of people dump on Armin, but the guy has driven the trance bus for so long, I'm glad he has branched out to do other forms of electronic music-

Yeah, I understand that he wants to try new things too, I mean, how many people are still eating the same stuff over and over again like 20 years ago? Or go on holidays to exact the same location every year? I think it keeps him excited in the studio when he can do new things, try new genres and experiment instead of doing the same "trick" over and over again. Also some trance fans seem to forget he started with house / club music back in the day before he did trance, so he has never been a trance only producer ;-) Thanks Bryan!

Great interview, Twan. Armin seems like a nice and humble guy that is not afraid to mention other big names in trance history that helped him in the beginning. My favorite productions are Communication and his album 76, there are these 4 mix compilations series that are classics (001 - a state of trance, 002 - basic instinct, 003 - in motion and 004 transparance), later he started the asot radio show that pioneered these trance radio and podcasts show. I don't like much the way trance evolved in a very mainstream, commercial and pop sound and how this affected his sound in general, I'm not a hater and I have to respect what Armin said: I love trance but I want to evolve my sound and produce different things. I wish Armin and Benno (I want an Rank1 interview, Twan!) success and happiness whatever they do in the studio. Cheers from Brazil.
