OHHHH. The famous bell V-22 ovspray. Started developed after the Jimmy Carter fiasco at the American Embassy in Iran hostage situation. Debuted in 1999 with a lot of flods and crashes. In Arizona, a rescue mission turned deadly after one rotor failed. But they have been improving. Some love it, some hate it, but still in service and strong. The Marin Corp. Has the most followed by the Navy and Airforce. Also coastguard, and even presidential service. Great for long range missions where helicopters can't make it. Only weapon is a 50 cal. On the back with the back ramp open.

I used to manufacture parts for the engines. T406 Allison units . I worked on the development parts and first articles. It took a long time for the Osprey to achieve a certificate of airworthiness.
its a helicoplane can land anywere on small surface .and it has a speed like a plane.
@daveh.folster74225 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure there’s a list of planes that can do just that. Including a short list of fighter jets that hover & vertically land. some of them have been around at least 25 years.

Excellent view of the MV22 Osprey. I have seen these and filmed them too when President Obama and President Trump visited the UK. They are unique planes and very noisy!

A practical invention, the aircraft has the advantages of both a helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft. It can take off on a small field and fly much faster than a helicopter, while occupying only one truck-sized space to park. pretty good👍🏻

I really don't know how lifting force changes gradually from the rotor to the wings at these very low speed specially it is a big heavy carrier, it must be an accurate balance between rotor speed, rotor angel and blades angels should be computarizedly maintained, specialists can explain that?
There is absolutely nothing particularly more dangerous about the osprey than any other aircraft. Out of all the v22s that have crashed all but one have been deemed pilot error. Every system on board is either double triple or quadruple redundant. They’re safer tham most helicopters.

It's a very expensive and inherently unstable aircraft. The rotor motors are vulnerable. If one of the tilt mechanisms is damaged, it won't be able to transition to vertical position for landing. The transition from vertical flight is when most crashes have occurred. Helicopters can do things that are impossible for fixed-wing aircraft. But a plane can usually glide in if necessary if an engine is lost. Many multi-engine planes can remain airborne if an engine quits. But if a helicopter engine quits, you're done. You drop like a stone.

I absolutely second that.

not entirely true - autorotation. Some helicopters can land from dead-stick from almost any height.
@jrthmc295 жыл бұрын
It can auto rotate to the ground if one engine is lost they can shut the other one down. However just as a helicopter in auto rotate or a fixed wing trying to fly in on glide approach this is less than preferable.
@codelucky5 жыл бұрын
@@jrthmc29 "less than preferable" ? There is no choice. None.
@jrthmc295 жыл бұрын
@@codeluckythat's my point. You would only do it if absolutely necessary. It's not something one would choose to do. It's something one is forced to do as a last chance effort.
Great...... It can take off like a helicopter where there is short runway or no run way, and fly fast like a plane.👍

It's an amazing aircraft, but also the first of its kind and there are bound to be problems. There is a reason that there are no B-52 As flying anymore. It sometimes takes several generations to mature the technology. That being said, the question will ultimately be: "is that additional risk worth the gain." I always was a bit uneasy when flying in helicopters.
