I love how older equipment forces you to be creative and find work arounds. I have another idea I will play with tonight using this and 16 levels. Good stuff Roger!

Didn’t get the results I was looking for. I would have to remove 1 sample from each subsequent sample I place in the SMT (4 sample total) and rename each one.

Thanks a lot for your comment, Wax. Totally appreciated. It's indeed exactly that challenge what makes it awesome to work with older gear. Apparently we need boundaries for getting creative.

Great video. This is the answer to my question about some 90s house sounds. Thanks! I will try with my MV8000.

Ahh genius! I would never have thought to use the SMT for this. Brilliant.

Thanks! I was indeed surprised too. Normally I would sample a chord but this way you have more freedom and the sound quality of the chords stays super. Better than sampled chords spread over the pads.

I do it with the MPC 1000 JJOSXL you can program 6 notes plus one root note pretty dope!

Thanks, Roger. I find that use of Patch SMT to de-tune samples to make single pad chord progressions something I may explore

Awesome. Another topic challenge idea, is to solve how to do the Drill style 808 slides in the MV.

Ah, yes....the infamous Drill Style 808 slides ;-) Will do another video on that too.

MIDI Manic!!! You do not know how much this just INSPIRED ME!!! I knew how to layer my drums in my MV, but I was completely cluesless to this method to creating your own chords with a patch and SMT. I'm just now getting back into my MV after 10 years man, life took over, and you know the rest. Chords was always a weak point for me. I appreciate this jewel infinitely!!!🫡👍🏾🤜🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯

Great video Rogier, I never really touched SMT settings before. 2 quick questions 1) Can you save the patches with all the settings (so you could load a patch of chords already set up, choose minor, major whatever different ones you saved)? 2) What happens if you change the sample after you made the patch? For example you made the patch by sampling C2 of a Rhodes sound, could you replace it with a sample of say C2 of a V-Synth sound and it will keep the other settings?

SMT is also amazing for single hit drum layering, like adding components of a kick drum or snare drum. Like a tiny bit of white noise over a snare
@tomsmate68562 жыл бұрын
@@ArwynKeast you are so right - that’s the only other time I ever used it, but moved to doing the same thing by keeping each sound layer on a separate pad for control of all parameters
@ArwynKeast2 жыл бұрын
@@tomsmate6856 Ah yeah that's a great idea - will try that! Separate envelopes would be great for that.
