This maybe the largest / Last passenger ship launch on the Clyde for sometime. This state owned shipyard may in the furture build smaller vessels . MV Glen Rosa the second of the Isle of Arran ferries, to be built at Ferguson Marine , Port Glasglow. 7th April 2024.
Glen Sannox and Glen Rosa have been complex vessels to build being dual fuelled , to be powered by both marine diesel and LNG . Marine diesel OK , but the LNG side of things has coursed problems.
Even the running of the vessels on LNG will involve 3 tankers of LNG travelling up from Kent each week . It will defeat the environmental issues and of running on LNG with pollution of road vehicles travelling up and down from Kent , Isle of Grain LNG terminal each week . I think they should have not been built as dual fuel vessels , it has made the vessels more complex to build which has caused the vessels or at least the first one to be very much delayed in entering service on the aisle of Arran ferry route.
